I love my tuned Z, but it still cuts off around 5-6k rpm???

well i didnt have this problem with the unichip.. and im pretty sure somewhere up the thread sharrif said that there is an update to fix this.. im not making an acusation Im just now finding out about it also...im just glad i wasnt the only one and now i know what the problem was either way im glad that its being fixed.. it felt really ****ty when it happened
What I can't understand is, why the car only does it sometimes, when it has been driven for a long period of time. The car doesn't do it all of the time. The car has never done it while on a dyno, and I am certainly hoping it isn't fire and brimstone as everyone predicts, but I know Alberto has ran into similar problems and I am surely going to have to get to the bottom of this thing, Alberto did yours do it all of the time?
mine didnt do it all the time either.. it was weird.. when i was on my way home from iraq my dad was trying to explain it to me and i figured it was because the tune was for a 03 04 motor and it was only tuned to a certain rpm because mine is the revup... i just figured that was it...
so will this cause detonation or what?

Look at upgrading the injectors and getting retuned..
Paranomal, the UTEC didnt cause your engine damage. The overboost cut is a safety measure incorporated into the UTEC, but in Craig's setup, he isnt using the UTEC to control boost. I am sorry if I wasnt more clear.
Craig, your boost is going to build at varying rates, based on engine load, so it would not be uncommon to hit the boost cut periodically, based on load. This is often the reason, the tuner wont see the boost cut on the dyno, but out on the road, it appears. I am not sure how your tuner setup the knock feedback control, but unless he dialed in massive ignition retard when knock occurs, its unlikely this symptom is timing reduction. If the engine completely cuts out, as in total loss of power, and a very unsettling feeling, its most likely boost limiter cut.

Not necessarily true. I had 398rwhp at stock 5.5psi and 421rwhp at 6psi. Not trying to steal the thread just making a comment.

your motor didnt blow from the UTEC, you motor blew because you boosted it before being tuned.Dont forget you put 3000 miles on your motor before trying to tune it. also the fact that Jiffy Lube over filled your oil did not help matters much either. The boost cut is in the UTEC for a reason,to prevent people from over boosting. If you hit the boost cut, then you obviosly did not follow my advice for proper break in procedure, which was to stay completely off boost , until the motor was broken in, then get it tuned.
People are quick to point blame on things without fully understanding the totality of the circumstances.
In the thread starteres case, I would seriouly look at upgrading injectors,98% duty cycle is way above the industry norm.Secondly, have the parameters of the UTEC changed to see if you are indeed hitting boost cut, or hitting knock retard. The knock retard feature will kill power also if set up sensitive enough..
im not blaming anyone.. obviously the vq35 gods of forced induction hate me and my car and make this as difficult as possible.. im gonna return to na and boost my 2006 civic si.. give honda a try
let me know when the greddy kit is out mrc and we can do that
