what if you live in Cali but your TwinTurbo z is registered in another state? Can they still give you a ticket?

They sure can. Ask me how I know. On my SR20 powered 240, I had it registered in Nevada and got a ticket. The law says that you have to go by the laws of the state you are driving in. Lamest law I ever heard of.

Amen. 20 somthing percent approval rating and 100 percent re-election rate. People are completely foolish nationwide, the mega-state of California is especially "blessed".

Worse are all the Mexican cars with BC plates spewing a cloud of smoke behind them. One of these beaters puts out more than every turbo equipped Z in Southern Califoria!

Now you're getting it (although we get hassled by the police as well).

The cops in So Cal can be both a-holes or pretty chill.

Just after my first mod:
I was pulled over because a cop got a hair up his butt when he heard my intake while i was taking off, he nearly hit me when following too close and then pulled me over, lectured me on how speed kills for about 20 mins and then wrote me a ticket for 60 in a 35 hmm lets see I saw him following me, almost hit and oh wait i had my cruise control on (set at 34)!!!!

After my vortec supercharger install:
I left a party to show a friend my Z with the new supercharger and take him for a ride around the block. Just as I left the cops rolled the party. When I got back I noticed the cops in front of the house.. oh ****.. stop in my parking space to drop off my friend and the cop asked, " what the hell is in that??" I told him my car is just supercharged with a bypass valve.. he said, "It sounds sick (smirk on his face) have a good night""

I guess it all depends on which cop you get and what type of mood they are in..

One large container ship pulling into the bay dumps as much smog as 350000 cars in the same amount of time.

The problem with California is everybody wants everything. Clean air, land, water. Education for all. They want it friendly to business, families, animals, golfers, bikers, hikers drivers etc etc etc and nobody wants to give an inch on their own special interest.

Cops are just doing a job. If I was a traffic cop with the possibility of getting shot every time I pull a car over and had to deal with the kind of riff raff I am sure they continually run into I would probably do exactly the same thing.

What sucks about the whole CARB thing is not the emissions portion, I'm all for cleaning up the environment....what sucks is the visual part...if you pass a sniffer test you should pass CARB end of story

Agreed. I mean the whole reason for CARB certification is to protect the enviornment, right? If you pass a smog test I'm not sure what the issue is? Is there something happening on a chemical level that we haven't heard about? There has to be something, right?

I don't think there's anything chemical if you have a silver intake vs a black intake.... It's just to make money that's all

CARB should only be sniffer objective and component blind! What's very ironic in Cali is the old worse polluting vehicles are smog test exempt! However my ancient Nissan passed its smog test at <0.1% max!

It's unbelievable with the high volume of Zturbos none are CARB. Increasing the CARB FI market competition would dramatically lower their cost.

And yet the standards for passing smog with chevy/ford trucks is much lower than say something like a civic, which is much more efficient. This is really *** backwards.

My elder Nissan is in the privileged SUV/truck high smog class. CA legal trucks pass smog that pollute more than a thousand times mine! However we can't FI a clean air Z, after paying high DMV/sales tax! We should hold a FI rights march at the Capitol!
