good luck
well, i took the car to my tuner and the problem seems to be absolutely nothing.
we all know dyno numbers are subjective, and Zivman hit it right on the head.
because the dynojet at Modacar is not load based, i was not hitting and holding full boost. how do i know this?
my tuner put the car on his Dastek Dynamometer and ran the car without placing any load. I saw the boost gauge hit 10 psig at 4000 rpm and almost immediately began going down to 5 psig at redline. This could help explain the low HP/TQ numbers. On the street, the car hits and holds 8-9 psi all the way to redline.
The numbers he got doing this was similar to the ones I got on the Dynojet. We got anywhere from 300-318 max rWHP and TQ in the 295-320 ft lb range.
when he put load on the car, we got very respectable numbers. boost went to 11 psi at around 4000 rpm and held all the way to redline. he tuned down the boost a bit and test drove the car and it ran beautifully. you forget how fast the car can be until you sit in the passenger seat. it always seems faster when you are not driving.
anyways, the numbers I got are pretty impressive. max rWHP was 453 at 5500 rpm and max torque of 480 ft-lb at 4500 rpm. this was at 11 lbs of boost. PLEASE take these numbers with a grain of salt. don't do what i did and start comparing dyno runs and wondering if you are running low or too high.
not many people tune on a Dastek, so comparing numbers is difficult. until i can get the car on a load based dynojet, i am satisifed my car is tuned to run at its best.
thanks to all who provided input.

i am giving you everything i have.
looks like he has the dastek set up to capture a point every 500 rpm and the graph extrapolated from that.
unfortunately, no numbers after 5500 rpm, even though the car was run to redline.
sorry can't be of much more help. this is all the info I have.

wow 450 and 480, thats quite a large difference, regardless of what dyno is used, something is strange. your boost shouldnt change that much, the drum on the dynojet wieghs 3100 pounds so you should still be under load, granted it isnt like the dynamometer, but still. does the car feel different to you? maybe i need to out my car on a dynamometer, that might fix my boost problem
thats good numbers tho, thats 70/80 more than me and im hitting 12psi. good job.

hey tig,
everything is relative, especially dyno numbers.
without regard to the 450/480 number, i'm comfortable that my car is running at its best. the key point was that I saw the boost hit 10 psi and drop down to 5 psi when no load was applied. this makes me feel that the dynojet numbers this past Saturday were not accurate.

450/480! Those are crazy numbers indeed!! Wow~ JoeDirt is pushing like 445rwhp with 13-14psi.. I thought.. I dynoed my car on a dynojet 224x model. I'm not sure if it's load based or not, but I got 364rwhp/412ft-lbs with 7 psi. My zeitronix arrived, so it's time to raise the boost~
the car feels fine. it just felt slow when you see 290/312
i've never driven a car with 400 rWHP, so it's hard to judge how fast a car feels when all you have driven is the car you have. wouldn't mind test driving another ST car one of these days.
yeah, i'm keeping the kit. looks like I just need to pay the city of San Jose a big fine and cross my fingers I don;t get caught again.

Modacars dyno is pretty conservative. I dyno'd 430-440 there, at dynospot i dyno'd 463 and at Robs I dyno'd 450ish. If you put yours on a dynojet "load based" you'll be around 400 or high 390whp and no where near 480trq from what ive seen. But If the car feels great and doesn't detonate, I wouldn't let the numbers bother you. I see people with 500whp posted on this site but I wonder how it performs, cuz thats the most important thing. Its how your car makes the power not the end outcome. Good luck with how it turns out, I know Ted always tries to make sure the problems are worked out.
