Considering it wasn't full weight and was running slicks it is very doable. Hell a friend of mine on here is doing 11.8 with just a 150shot of NOS. He doesn't even have 400 to the wheels.

Well, ive ran an R34 with 400 something and you'll need to have about 30-40whp on top of whatever he has to beat him. Luckily the Z or should i say VQ35, seems to deliver torque faster or lower in the RPM band, but they can make more power so, uh Good luck>

A 545 whp Skyline should be running a very low 11 second 1/4, so that should give you an idea. Look at SCC ultimate street car challenge, i believe it was 2 years ago, one of the contestants had a 550 whp R33 and ran a high 10 sec 1/4. So be prepared. You'll need at least 650 whp I think, skylines are monsters.

Not from a dead stop but from a roll with him from about 50-70mph.

Plus it is a lighter car to begin with.

Theoretically we don't know this yet, but someday the VQ35 (built) of course could be a very good engine. I suspect a lot of people laughed when the supra guys were trying this stuff and all the V8 guys were laughing. This engine is still young but as of now its not better than the RB26 as far as I know.

IMO get to his hp and get some slicks he might jump a little in the beginning but the vq gets more torque I think with slick and the same hp you wont have to look anymore.

I respect the skyline its a monster but don’t over rate it either. Any car is beatable.

Agreed. This debate is or should be about your 60 FT times. If you can get traction with 500-600 WHP, it is possible to beat him. If you have poor 60 FT times, you have no chance IMO.

Your set-up better have:
Drag Radials with very little PSI
Suspension set-up with Coils to adjust ride height and dampening
A clutch that can hold the power

And some drag skills.

My G35 puts down 800 WHP and I can pass GTRs on road racecourses, yet, I used to modify an EVO VIII, and the 60 FT times were almost unbeatable. Even with all of my WHP, without traction the power is unusable from a DIG.

Rolling start, NO PROBLEM, stand still is another story if your car isn't set-up correctly to take advantage of the power.

FYI, Learn to slip the clutch perfectly. It is a shame you do not have to even be a great driver to launch a turbod AWD car, just rev to 4000 RPM and slide the clutch and Wella - A SLING SHOT...

Good luck.

PM if you need more power.

M

driver skill is going to be one of the largest factors here...

practice your launches..you better get some beefier axles! (if using slicks)

People on here act like nothing can touch an R34 with 575rwhp (R34s usually dyno RWHP with the awd disabled). The 350Z is lighter and with forced induction it has a much thicker powerband. 575rwhp in 350Z with the proper tire should be able to pull an R34 with equal power just based on simple physics.

As for power potential. In a few more years you'll be seeing LOTS of very powerful VQs...even right now the aftermarket is still in it's infancy and we already have a VQ up around 1800hp.

I think you should do an AWD conversion on the 350Z! Then you'll beat him on the launch and 1/4 mile.
