Default removing turbo

hey guys i'm in the process of removing my turbo and all my other aftermarket parts. i have a turbonetics turbo with the ecu reflash. i contacted a local auto place to uninstall the turbo, however i am running into issues with the reflash. they don't have the space to hold my car in their garage for a couple of days while the ecu is being flashed back to normal so they asked if i could get the ecu reflashed myself and then drive it over there. my question is would it be possible to drive a turboed car on the stock ecu? thanks so much.

I think it would be unwise to drive a turbo'd car with the stock setup, if that's even possible...

if the fuel system is put back to 100% stock along with the stock ECU installed, the car will run totaly normal. You can drive it, but if you boost it AT ALL you will destroy the engine in short order. So, if you think you can take a short drive without hitting a single psi, then you can be OK... so its definatly a risk, but possible. its not recommended.

how about taking off the turbo, then getting the ECU flashed afterwards?

that is a safer path to choose. however, when the ECU is put back to stock, the fuel system needs to be put back to stock at the same time.

so my best bet would be to get the turbo uninstalled completely, then send the ecu out to be flashed back to stock correct? in the meantime will it be safe to drive my car home with the turbonetics reflash on an n/a car. the shop i'm going to is having problems with space so they want me to take the car home after the turbo is uninstalled regardless of whether or not the ecu is back from technosquare.

yes they can remove the entire turbo system and you can drive the car home with no worries. while your ECU is out being reflashed back to stock, you can put the fuel system back to stock.

Since its a TN kit, there is not fuel system, other than a pump and injectors, so just go ahead and pull the whole kit and then drive home safely. The car will run a little bit leaner, so just get the ECU reflashed back to stock, you and will be fine. But a little bit of light NA driving with the TN reflash will do no harm.

Just curious, but what kind of shop wont hold a car for 3 days so you can have your ECU reflashed (overnight shipping both ways). ???

Heres something nobody has mentioned. The fuel pressure regulator in the FP assembly was drilled larger when the TN kit was installed. This should have raised his base fuel pressure. Now that he is going to be NA again, he wont have boost lowering the FP down to around stock as it builds. Shouldnt he mention this to Technosquare for the back to NA ECU reflashing? In other words if he didnt, wouldnt he be running rich because of the higher fuel pressure?

I thought the reason for drilling the F.P was to lower the fuel pressure after adding the new F.P regulator. The new F.P. pressure w/o the drilling would be around 70/80 psi IIRC..Drilling brings it down to around 50psi..?? I could be all wet but that's what I thought the drilling accomplished..

It could be, maybe Im the one thats wrong! What do yuo mean you drill it for when you add the new FP regulator? You dont add a FP regualtor in the TN kit...

Thought a new fuel pump comes with the kit..I meant to say F.P. not F.P. regulator..
