Default I think my clutch is about to "poo on me"

well, before i went FI, i was able to get ahold of a clutchmasters fx100, even got it installed for free by nissan. 2 years laster after running NOS and twins, i noticed my clutch was slipping a little bit. I have been expecting this because the stage 1 isnt meant to hold 450rwhp, but damn for 1.5 years..no problems.

So am at the races last night, and me and this eclipse run, weirdest feeling, felt like a automatic, i floored the car the rpms shot up a little bit (felt like a downshift) then my clutch grabbed, of caorse the eclipse got killed...I though maybe i wasnt hooking up on the road, so i went to my low boost setting, sure enough...floor it, rpms jump, then the car comes with it.

IMO CM fx100 is a bad *** clutch, plus very easy to drive.
Right now im looking into a CM 6 puck, ide rather stay away from a puck, and a twin disk is to expensive. 6 pucks are a pain to drive. Anyone got some good clutch ideas

NO, ATS AND NO JIM WOLF..sorry ATS is too much $$ JW never heard anything that great about there clutches and flywheels

I love my RPS Max Series 6-Puck clutch. It is sprung unlike many puck style clutches, yet is still rated to 700hp and I hear RPS underrates their clutches. It is a very, very stiff pressure plate (not even exagerating here) and is a bit hard to get used to, but once you are used to it, the feel is awesome. I personally would hate to have a normal feeling soft clutch again. RPS also sells a street disc version of this clutch with the same pressure plate rated at 550hp, but I don't have any experience with that particular one. I have had my 6-puck on the car for about 23k miles now and it has never even wanted to slip.

**The only problem is you MUST have a JWT flywheel to use this clutch because it is actually a 300ZX clutch and the JWT flywheel has mountings for both 350Z and 300ZX clutches.

Take a look at the ACT line up. 6 puck sprung hub has plenty of holding power and is still very streetable..

The CM Stage IV is a 4 puck and has a sprung hub. I had less issues with it than with my ATS. I think it is one of the best for the $$ and since it is a sprung hub it is fairly streetable.

You can get the ACT 6 puck sprung hub clutch, pressure plate, and prolite flywheel for like $865 I think from Z1 Auto

It sounds like you were pleased with CM. The CM FX400 is a terrific clutch. Don't let the 6 or 8 puck designs scare you. They are totally streetable sprung hubs. The ACT 6 puck is also terrific....even the unsprung version is very streetable.

ATS is the way to go. Don't forget.... you get a lightweight flywheels with the ATS clutch for that money.

Unless you don't need that match capacity. For the money I couldn't see any reason to get anything beyond the ACT setup. The 6 puck sprung hub and prolite flywheel will more then hold the tq I plan to make as my ultimate goal.

CM or ACT, never heard anything bad about either of them. Of course, going up the chain to a twin disc is the best route, but if you're looking to keep your total expense down, then I'd say go with ACT. Are you looking to replace the flywheel too? Didn't notice it in your post, but a few guys here mentioned it...

this is a dumb question maybe, but is the clutch apart of the drivetrain for nissan 50K warranty? Mines starting to make a squeaking noise that can be heard outside the car as well as inside when i step on the clutch...

No its not part of the drive train warranty as its a wearable item like brake pads.

Dont get RPS, i have the top of the line RPS with the 6 puck, it holds exactly, and i mean exactly 470 to the wheels on a dynojet.

stay away from this clutch, ATS makes a great clutch, i love ACT from back in my honda days in 94-97 good luck but no RPS

I'm in the search for the right clutch setup right now. I'm also building my block and looking at about 500whp. I don't know which clucth setup can hold that power and doesn't break my bank. I will keep an eye on this thread.
