Default Thanks to SGP Racing, My F/I Story

I want to give thanks to Mark and all the guys at SGP Racing in Houston for a job well done. Last September, I bought a 2004 350Z and ordered a Turbonetics Turbo Kit. About a month later, I blew the motor and had the car sent out to SGP for a new long block. After a few weeks I went out to Houston to pick up the car with the new long block, e-manage ultimate now controlling the Turbonetics kit and a few other things. The car ran great on the built motor and was making about 400 HP, but I wanted bigger numbers.
Over the next few months I spoke with Mark about different options to try, but for some reason the power was not there. Mark then flew out to Phoenix, and we put on the HKS FCON hoping that it would help to achieve the bigger numbers I was looking for. We spent six hours on the dyno and the best that we could get was 420 HP with the stock headers. We felt that the problem was with the low compression pistons, and the cams that were installed when the motor was built. Also, the stock headers, turbo, and pipes could not flow the amount of air that was needed to make the numbers.
Mark flew back to Houston and we talked about what it might cost to do custom headers, redo some of the pipe work, and some other little things to build up power and allow the kit to flow better. We came to the conclusion that I should go with a twin turbo setup to make the numbers that I was looking for (due to the fact that it would cost about the same for the install of the twins as it would be to do all of the custom work which would allow the Turbonetics to possibly produce higher numbers). I sent the car back out to SGP, and had a Greddy twin turbo put on. I flew out a few weeks later to pick up the car and HOLY CRAP this thing is unreal. Still have the same built motor and now have a Greddy twin turbo with SGP wastegate dumps, HKS FCON and a JIC single exhaust. With the tuning that Mark did the car runs better than it ever did stock, and I can’t wipe this grin off my face.
Mark’s shop was full of cars both times that I was out there, and I would have to say that he had about 30-40 cars each time. There were a lot of Z’s and G’s a couple of Supras, some Nissan 300’s and a bunch of other sick cars. I have never met anyone that knows so much about our VQ motors, and how to tune them for over all drivability like he can. I am very glad that I sent my car out to his shop, and if I had to do it all over again, I would. If you need a built motor, tuning or a FI kit put in, call SGP Racing and ask for Mark.
Now for the Good stuff, we made 550 HP and 508 foot pounds of torque on 12 PSI, and 91 octane with an AF of 11.0.

Sorry, I did not have a color scanner

Man it seems that everyone is trading in the turbonetics for a set of Greddy's. But great numbers . Quick question are the turbo's the Stk turbo's or upgraded ones?

Congrats man!!! I was up at SGP both times your car was there. The first time, when the radiator wouldn't fit and then the last time when your car hit the 500 mark.

see this is the reason i went with a Greddy Kit to begin with.. potential for big numbers on the same kit.. everyone would talk **** about how sh!tty the Greddy kit was... but like i said.. its a great kit.. just not complete.. and if you get everything to make it complete.. it works great.

Congrats to you on some excellent numbers.. beautiful car you have there too.. kind of reminds me of my car... Greddy TT w/ black rims and chrome lip

Thanks man, if you take the time to put together the Greddy kit the right way, it works very well.

By the way, you have a great looking car!!!

With all of your extra time??? You will start twitching at the discovery of new upgrades out there, then slowly you will say, " I guess I could use a few more things "....LOL..... It never ends... It is an addiction!!!
