Default Turbo at 90,000 miles?

Orignally posted in the main forum... sorry about that. Bought my Z new in 2003, but spend most of my time and $ modding my Porsche 911. Have really not felt the need to do any mods since the car is so damn good stock, and as my daily driver, didn't want to screw with a good thing. 90,000 miles and no problems! Anyway, the car is starting to get a little soft in the corners, so new struts are coming. I was thinking perhaps a turbo to spice things up too. I have narrowed it down to the Turbonetics single or Greddy double. Will my 90,000 mile engine be able to handle the Greddy, or should i go with the Turbonetics? I'm looking for modest power gains to maintain reliability. Even if i go with the T.netics, should i be worried with my high mileage engine? Is the Tnetics kit fairly 'plug and play' or does it need a lot of tuning? Would love to hear from any long term T'netics or Greddy guys. Thanks to all.

Do a compression and leakdown test, that will tell you the shape your engine is in. If the numbers are good it shouldnt be a problem.

Well, I had the TN kit on my car about 1.5 months ago at 45k miles. Now I have 47500. I drive this car about 60-70 miles a day and I spend a good time in traffic. I have no complaints about the car.. If I had to have one, it would be that my car goes nuts and jerks me back and forth when I am off the throttle at low rpms.

what ever you do try to keep the FI kit at about stock boost so you don't blow the internals. I will do the same even at my 105k 03 but pending a compression test....

In2therain3, did you do the install yourself? Are you happy with overall improvement (Ie... worth the offboost behavior?)

I did not do the install by myself. I had AAM do it and as far as I can tell, I think they did a pretty good job. I am very happy with the improvement. I have no complaints while driving off boost. It just drives like how it use to off the boost. I am going to get this thing tuned with utec to just have more reliability and a smooth powerband.

not sure about putting it on with that many miles...but I have had my turbos on since 7200 miles and I have 43000 miles on the car now, so over 35k twin turbo miles and still running strong.
