Default help i think i popped my motor.

So i'm driving up my girl friend's street in 2ed gear at about 5-6psi of boost. while i'm driving i hear a loud knocking sound coming from the motor. I'm assuming its a knocking rod. I did a compression test shortly after and here are my results:

Driver side from front to back:

150psi
160psi
146psi

Passenger side front to back:

152psi
120psi
155psi

I'm taking it to Nissan in the morning to see if i can get an exact diagnosies on it. I know some of you guys have had the same experiance i want to know what happen in your all cases. thanks.

update

Well I just got word back from my guy the problem is a VALVE SPRING

He said yes the sound is loud but there is no sounds coming from the bottom end.

He did a bunch of other test and confirmed that the problem is in the head and it doesn't have appeared to have damaged the piston what so ever, so its being fixed

WHHHOOOOOO!!!!

Im sorry to hear this, more than likely one of the rods bent and your engine will need a rebuild. This is very common issue on the VQ especially with inadequte engine management. Im assuming you were running the emanage blue that was supplied with the greddy kit? There is no way to know exactly what caused this incident. Either way if you need anything please let us know, we are here to help.

thank you, i really thought the J&S safegard would help out.

I'm just going to sell the car for what i owe on it and let someone put a short block in it. If anyone is interested i'm selling the car for 22k. get a short block or a built motor and you could have a nice for not a bad price. I have so much money in this thing it kills me.

Definately sounds like a rod, I've been there .

So about the car, what year, trim, and how many miles? Want a '05 G35c, no mods except wheels/tires/suspension/tint, all options, 6MT, Black, 12,000 miles?

Sorry to hear about your motor.

FYI J&S has been tried before on our motors and it has not worked in the past from making them go boom.

Can you not claim this on your insurance and have them buy you a new motor? I dont know much about that but deff. something to look into, might cost ya $500-$1000 depending on your deductible but better then selling the car and loosing a lot more. I had a friend of mine who always changed his own oil, he was rushed one day and forgot to tighten up the drain bolt. Later on that night he went to a party and parked on the grass, drain bolt fell out and all the oil with it, long sotry short the next day engine went boom and he got it cover by his insurance, labor and all. GL sorry to hear about your problems

insurance does not cover mechanical failures. Never has, never will. What gave you that idea ? Insurance is collision coverage or comprehensive, which is flood, tree falling on the car, etc. but an engine blowing=not covered by insurance.

i am glad you said it.. i think i was catching up to you in calling BS around here.. just wanted you to get a good lead going..

unless you run your car into a tree.. the insurance company will not pay for a blown motor.. in that case they are paying for the collision as mike said.. and if you are lucky not to total the car in the process.. then yes.. you will have your motor replaced.. you don't have your motor replaced for running your car out of oil

You still have warranty? Remove all aftermarket parts and take it to NISSAN, they'll replace it. =)

yeah...considering I was an agent for about a year dealing with mostly auto insurance and now I'm an independent claims adjuster, I've got a pretty good bearing on what is covered and what isn't

That's what I was thinking. Perfect excuse to really build the motor. Now someone buy my G35.

<--Wow. I've been here almost 4 years and only had 4 posts up until today .
