Default Hiflow cats for FI

WAIT before I get ripped I know test pipes are better but hear me out. I live a Canada were recent street racing deaths have created police "street racing task forces" ya and they can pull over any car that looks "special". They know to look for no-cat exhausts and fine your *** on the spot, if they don't charge you for street racing.

So which hi-flow cats do you recomend.
thanks

power enteprise, random, kinetix???

I would get testpipes and weld heat shields on them to look like cats or just gut your stock ones.

^^^ I agree

They sell test pipes that "look" like catalytic converters but they flow straight through.

Good luck!

In Australia there are huge fines and your car will be taken off the road until you can prove that cats are back on, so test pipes are not an option here. APS are supposedly developing some at the moment but dont know when they will be ready or if they flow enough for FI.

If you are FI you need a high flow metal element cat with the least flow restriction possible.

These guys have a very good rep here in AU and ive seen magazine reviews, dynos and cfm numbers etc all performing miles above the competition. Im currently running UR cats but these are not suitable for FI in that the diameter of the piping is too small and they have a ceramic element which doesnt flow as well. I will be switching to these metal cats when ready.

They dont sell a bolt on option for the Zed but you can order their cat sections in the diameter you need and then get a exhaust place to weld on flanges etc. Make sure you match the piping sizes to your exhaust piping diamter.

Looks like they go to Sema.

+1 on gutting the stock cats. Just make sure you shut down your motor asap if you happen to get pulled over. I'm sure they would recognize the smell.

As far as HF cats go, I had some Kinetix cats long ago when I was NA and one snapped completely in half. Their customer service took care of them and replaced them on the spot (I had to cover shipping), so no problems there.

I hear good things about the Crawford cats, although they're a bit more expensive.

Im live in Toronto, and the only reason I am worried about this is because this has happened to friends I now, there is a reason to my madness.

I have had Random Technology cats with my APS TT setup and they collapsed in less than 600 miles. I just had a set of custom 200 cell metal cats (used for 996 and 997 TT's) fab'ed for me in August and ran them for 400 miles. The cats are fine, meaning they didnt collapse, and flow MUCH better then the RT but they need to be braced (need to weld a bracket and connect them to the U shaped exhaust brace) because they cause the exhaust to rattle at WOT.

yeah i suggest using cats as well in toronto. They have the right to take your car away and give you $1000+ fines for running test pipes. Not worth it for 10-20whp IMO.

+1000000!!!
you can purchase the Metal Cat through Supreme Performance (part of Maremont Exhaust) exhausts here in the U.S. ( www.supremeperformance.com , look at the top for the Converters button)
You can get 3" or 3.5" high flow cats from them!

Random Technology are the worse and they don't honor the warranty even with the original slips. They never sent mine back, never even told me they decline the exchange until I called them.

I have the crawfords, and they are absolutely great from the sound to the odor. I couldn't stand my test pipe odor.

Interesting, are you running them at your 500hp level?

no, but I'm sure you could still get some good power, I did not gain much when I went to test pipes
