Also Displacement isnt always the answer, I think we are looking into a good rod/stroke ratio for a track friendly car. Need a small tight track which is what many countries are known for since racing space is limited and the worlds racing venues seem to be shrinking and a short gear low revving torquey motor will own. But on the back straights of Tskuba a RB26 at 10K rpm will outpull and outlast that aluminum V6. Not to mention for Amatuer race teams, the technolgy is less and easier to tune on the RB26. Its a tried and ture combo for success. however fans and board members dont want to see the same old **** year after year... They want pizazz and spice. A venerable SHAKE & BAKE ohhhhh Ricky Bobby!

Couldn't you just build a VQ and put some cams and springs in it and rev to 8500+?

Yes it can be done. And It would make a badass motor. From what I have seen though the Inline motors tend to be more rev-friendly.

I have yet to see a sumped VQ rev to 10-11K like many RBs have done.

I will never argue on the merrits of the motor alone! A car isnt just a motor! Its the harmony of all the parts installed!

However gay that sounds... the idea is very true coming from japanese culture. Balance!

I think that with these two different platforms there are two totally different equations! And therefor two totally different questions as it comes to the balance and build ideals of a tuner car!

^^^^^^^^^ +5 as well if nissan thinks that this engine is better y the hell r they switching to the VQ on the new skyline, OW and dont forget to tell us about the tourq u got when u dyno u will b surprised if and only if u got 600 whp ur tourq will be in the range of 300 to 350 and that is rubish mean while u get = whp and tourq with VQ thats on the Z 1 more thing the new VQ engine is gona be the same on the z and the skyline so same engine 1 with TT for the sky and 1 NA for the Z.

If anybody has seen the video of that car racing a Vette, it lags like a ****. It doesnt pull back on a Z06 (IIRC?) until right around 150mph, it was yanked the whole way. Id have more respect if the owner had done this and used a properly sized snail, instead he went for the "look I have an RB-Z with a snail the size of your head" look. I also believe the owner is a liar, he was claiming 600whp at 9psi or some BS like that Regardless of all that, I give the shop props that did that, it def sits way lower than the VQ....not my cup of tea but cool nonetheless...

not feeling that motor swap.. you could have a built VQ for less with much more displacement and torque.. to me dumping an RB in a Z is the p#ssy way out

I've got a buddy slapping a GT4088 on his stock R33 GT-R shortly.

however, with the way this is setup in the Z for RWD...I'd have DEFINITELY gone T04z or T51R instead of the T88. It seems every T88 car I've seen barely makes 600whp (which is frickin useless to have that big a turbo for that power level)

If he knew what he was doing, he'd have slapped on a much smaller turbo. With the way the motor sits so low in the car, it probably significantly lowers the center of gravity....so properly adjusted would handle very well.

First thing: Ditch the big useless T88, get something smaller and far less laggy.

I don't think Rouz's car is the perfectly well rounded RB tuned car. Nonetheless his car if additionally and properly tuned can make great numbers and that Z06 woul dhave been toast much earlier. I'd ditch the VQ for the RB anyday of the week.

But besides that fact i never intended this thread to turn into another VQ vs. RB debate. My search function has plenty(Attn. Briguymax, Alberto) of them.

Move along to your typical 400whp twin turbo threads

Bro you can take your easily offended atitude off the boards then-geez. I playfully made that last post-did you miss the smiley? While Im not interested in this swap, I am interested in what is needed to do it...stop getting your panties in a bunch for nothing. Public forum will always have opinions, some against this idea I wont be the first or last....

First of all i ain't your bro.

Second i have never gotten offended. I asked with all due respect and please. All of us have our preferences and there are any other threads for this debate.

My intent was to share the wealth, answer any Q's, and to leave any VQ discussion out of this one. Calm down now boy.
