I've asked this in a previous thread (didn't get much of an answer), but can someone please explain to me the benefits of spending extra 2-3G to do a TT instead of an ST on a streetcar?
I am not trying to start a war, but I am genuinely curious about this. Most TT people here are running stock longblocks and street tyres, yet they have so much traction troubles in the lower gears (as you can see in the thread's topic). What is the practical use to the quicker onset of torque?
As I said, just wondering...

Dude i know how u feel , i was on i-4 the other day coming into traffic. There was this ricer that wouldnt let me merge, granted i always hit cruise control when i hit i-4 due to cops. But this time i was like cmon brotha let me merg he was being a ***, i give a down shift, not realizing the middle of i-4 was wet as hell, go side ways counter steer, get the back facing straight tcs kicks in, as soon as im pointed foward i quickly floored it to catch up to on coming traffic. The *** hole had the ***** to come up to me and say WOW U DRIFTED dude that was awesome. Im like dude, i was trying to save my life. He was like DAMN I GOTTA GET A Z, i guess he wasnt hearing me due to the wind but....yea even with a preety much stock revup, ....in the light rain florida gets its dangerous man.

Had the same thing happen to me when I was on the onramp. I was just coming up to speed not even punching it. Hit the little lane divider bumps and all the sudden the rearend just broke loose and i faced all the way to the right saw a car, threw the car back to the left to avoid the car and saw the big *** rocks they have on the sideof the road. Couldnt avoid all the rocks though > The rear end slid into the rocks and put a nice chip in my GT-7 and scratched my sideskirt. Just glad damage was at a minimum and no other cars were hit. That could have been a nightmare also.

I lost it doing 120 mph over a small bridge then into an s turn. Saw a red light ahead and slowly got on the brakes but it was still too early and i lost the rear end. My head lights where looking at the left side curb and then the tree on the right. Scared the poop out of me. I turned to look at my passenger and he was speechless. 20 minutes later, he finally realized what had happened and started screaming at me in the car, “you almost killed me!!"

Oh yea, that reminds me of another mishap. I was doing 75mph in the rain on 23k mile worn Nitto555. The rear tires where almost down to the wear indicator so the rear end would sway left and right a little every so often over a patch of water. Then, all of a sudden the front tires went up, hydroplaned, and the car immediately started rotating to the right, I counter steered, but the car didn’t respond. The car was facing 45 degrees to the right now and I was counter steering more and giving it more gas but still nothing. I was gliding across 2 of the 5 lanes of freeway now. I gave up and turn the wheel into the spin and prayed no one was behind me. I looked at the front of a on coming BMW halfway through the spin. The car finished the 360 and I got on the brakes and counter steered again. I ended up hitting the wall at about 15 mph and the wheel and bumper took the brunt of the damage. The engine stalled and wouldn’t start. I then reset the CEL code on the side of the freeway and the car started back up.

edit: Just in in case anyone wants to know. If you have a collision hard enough to trip the sensors in the car to kill the engine and keep it from starting again. Check that there is actually no damage first so you dont burn your car down turing the ignition. Open the car door so the interior light turns on, hit the unlock button on your key fob 5 times, wait 15 seconds, and then start the car.

VDC will not save you at that speed, all it would do is cut the throttle, you would still be ****ed if your sliding sideways down the highway at 60, trust me, ive discovered this already.

I don't agree. I agree that it's not magic and is not an excuse for reckless driving. Of course there are situations from which it cannot recover, but it will save you from actually going sideways in the first place unless you've errored or hydroplaned so severy that it cannot correct.
