Default Turbo intelligence needed..

I just got the Turbonetics turbo kit for my '03 Z. Would it be stupid to temporarily slap it onto my stock block until I can afford the VQ35 stroker kit? Note, i'm talking like 6-7 months or so. Also for people that know turbos VERY well on the Z, what else should I get to make this all work out nicely? I also got the AAM Spec oil spacer.

I'm doin all my purchasing off of www.intensepower.com. Does anyone know if their VQ35 stroker kit comes with everything like pistons, rods, shaft...etc? Should I get aftermarket valve springs, cams, injectors??

Long story short, am I gonna have to do the WHOLE kitten kaboodle (sp?) if I want to slap a turbo kit on my Z?

Thanks for any input fellas.

-Jay

Uh, I think you should do a little more research. You don't need to know turbos to find this information.

What do you mean by afford a VQ35? I assuming you mean a built block. In which case the turbonetics kit was designed to be used with a stock block. There is no need for a built block as long as you keep boost to thier specfications.

I would also recomend a dyno session to ensure everything is smooth.

Your post doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me and it seems like your not really sure what you are getting yourself into.

I don't understand what you mean by until you get a VQ35. Do you mean until you get a forged motor because there is no difference in the 350z motors for 2003 so you have a VQ motor.

Stroking your motor and building it up will run a lot of money and a Turbonetics kit would not serve it justice. You would be better off with a Twin kit that provides a lot more air flow since a build up like that will be over 10K and the TN kit has not been able to break 500WHP.

As far as options to make your set up more complete you may want to consider getting a UTEC to provide tuning capability as well as a Fuel return system, larger injectors and Boost and A/F gauges minimum.

How or who will be installing this kit? If you are fortunate to live in an area with one of the 350Z specialty shops listed in the link below you should save your self a headache and give them a call.
https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/245486-list-of-z-tuners-by-area.html

There is a lot of information to be searched on this site especially in the F/I section so you should really spend some time browsing through the archives to learn.

I was really just wondering if the stock Z motor is able to withstand the induction of a turbo over time, or will it poo out. And was wondering if I should get a stroker kit of some sort and if I should get all the other things like injectors, cams, springs......etc.

So, I guess what you guys are saying is that slapping the turb kit on the stock block will be fine. Yea? Nothing else needed? That doesn't sound right.

Maybe your motor will last, maybe not....My personal opinion is that if you can't afford to rebuild or buy a new motor leave the F/I alone. Many have driven thousands of miles on a stock block and others have not been so lucky. As far as your question of what is needed I mentioned what I would get in my previous reply. UTEC, Dyno tune, fuel system and gauges.

I think this is more than good advise. The 10K+ you would throw at your stroker motor, not to mention all the other money spent on goodies, would be comletely wasted on the TN kit.

Time to start searching and get a better understanding of what really is involved with FI and motor builds

Sounds like you need to do some more reading. A stroker motor and a built motor are two different things and not necessarily the same.

Love how people are all about stroker motors now a days (even newbs) they hear it in relation to domestics and automatically assume its the way to go with a Z. Keep reading OP you have a lot to learn. In case you misred redlines post, if you dont have at least $10K saved up to build a blown motor dont go FI period.

Dude! just slap that baby on your stock internals and your good for 430HP rwhp easy. Get a boost gauge and don't let it go above 9.5 lbs and you'll be good as gold!
Do rods and main bearings if you HAVE TO go higher....TN rocks on a stock block...have fun!!!!
