Proper EMS and tune shouldn't have to be retuned unless you change something. Change oil every 3K just like when I was N/A

Why do you change your oil at 3K...All new cars are switching to a 7500 mile schedule, which is still too often.

If somebody can explain why a E55 can do 15-20K a 911 C4S 20K on their oil and we can't squeak out over 3K...I'm listening. And I'm not talking about the POS oil that comes in a cheap car.

I change mine at 3K miles because of the deposits in the oil. I am sure the oil is not even close to braking down at that point, but I want my oil as clean as possible. I usually put about 6-8K miles a yr on my car and a couple oil changes isn't a big deal. On my other cars, I run my oil about 10 - 12K miles and change out the filter every 2.5-3K miles.

Edit:
And all new cars aren't switching to 7500 mile intervals. I have been car shopping for two weeks - mother in law bought a new Altima and my good buddy bought a new Focus - (looked at ford fusions, ford focus, nissan sentra, versa, altima, maxima, murano, mazda 3,6, cx7, dodge caliber, subaru impreza, toyota corolla, etc, tec) - most are recommending 3500 or 5000 mile intervals. It might be my climate is considered extreme or harsh compared to cali or other souther states

I'll have to search it out, but it was on the news that they are going from a recommended 3K schedule to a 7.5K schedule (which is what most people fall into even in the manual today).

Information in here..

I think when people spend $10-$20k on their engines and labor, they are inclinded to change oil a litlte sooner than normal. Our engines are producing far more crank hp that just about any production engine on the market, so it would make sense to spend a few extra bucks on more frequent oil changes.

Also, those extended intervals still require a few filter changes. I am not aware of filters desgined to work for than 10K miles...maximum..do you know of any?
