Default JWT TT dynos at 5800ft corrected and uncorrected

So I bought a car with the JWT TT kit installed. It's a 2006 with 5k miles stock block and stock cats with Injen ses dual exhaust. Kit was installed and tuned at GT motorsport. It came with defi boost gauge and EGT.

I live in Albuquerque which is about 5800 feet above sea level. The car dynoed at 370 rwhp in LA from the charts done at GT motorsport.

The only change I've made was unplugging the cam motors at Jim Wolf's recommendation because the car would not accelerate if I tried a pull from under 3k rpm. The car runs great now without cam motors.

Check out the dyno. Its very lean between 3000 and 5500 rpm which I thought it would run richer at this altitude. Power is also sucking at the uncorrected numbers which suprised me because I read that turbo cars dont suffer from altitude because 7 psi at sea level is the same as 7psi at 9000 feet.

Anyway if this is a debate about boost and altitude so be it, I just need some suggestions on how to get this car to at least 380 rwhp at this altitude.

I don't see a dyno. If it's running lean, as you say it is, then that can't be good...

do you have any check engine light from unplugging the cams? next time im on the dyno, out of curiosity, i might try unplugging them.

Sorry, tried 300dpi, 200dpi and 150dpi, all over whats allowed to post up. 100 dpi it is unless someone can show me different.

Unplugging the cam motors did give me a SES on the second start but the thing runs smooth now.

I just need some suggestions on how to get this car to at least 380 rwhp at this altitude. Is the JWT TT kit capable of 380 rwhp at this altitude on a stock block?

what other mods do you have? Test Pipes, exhaust, plenum spacer, etc..

I would suggest staying away from dyno runs till you have a potential fix...

No test pipes or plenum, just the Injen ses dual.

i think the most important things to address are the lean condition in the low to middle RPMs and exhaust flow. The cats are definitely not helping at all. The Injen SES is much too small in my opinion for any sort of FI, especially TT.

I would also look into getting a wideband AFR. EGTs are helpful, but are too tempermental too location, and most installs are done based on convience of install rather than proper location. What I am getting at is, get a wideband and watch the AFRs on the street and see if they reflect what is being seen on the dyno.

Definitely look into a set of test pipes - bang for the buck I would get APS 2.5" or Helix (the newest revision). For an exhaust, I would suggest the APS 2.5", AAM's 2.5" or maybe fast intentions setup. The injen has some seriously small piping <2" when I messured it in person. I would look into a retune if you replace the exhaust or even install test pipes. With the increase exhaust flow, you run the chance of leaning out even more than you are now.

A plenum spacer might be helpful, but don't think it is even close to a necessity. The Wideband, exhaust components, and a retune are going to be your best 'investments' at this point. that said, I would look into a full plenum replacement as I don't like the extra potential 'leak' point with spacers and boost.

edit:
7 psi at sea level and 7 psi at altitude are not the same. the pressure is the same, but the mass of the air is not. Much the same as the mass flow of the JWT turbos at 7 psi is not the same as the mass flow of the greddy turbos at the same pressure. every car suffers due to altitude, however, turbo's cars suffer less than a N/A car
Good luck

I talked to Jim Wolf about the revup cams. Unplugging the exhaust cams prevent s the egr function on them. With it on it causes to much overlap, way to much. With them unplugged it puts them in a fixed position like the 287hp engines.

Holy lean, Batman! Is this on 100 octane (I hope!). 7psi at sea level does equal 7psi at 5800ft in boost, but not in air density.

7psi=7psi
but at sea level ther's more oxygen per psi

So I guess its just time to turn up the boost.

I just ordered the turbo xs test pipes and turbo xs manual boost controller.

I'll be staying out of boost until I get a new tune. 14:1 is horrible. How close you think I came to blowing my motor?

Any chance unplugging the cam motors could cause a lean condition if the original tune was done with them on?

Unplugging them made a huge difference in drivability and smoothness.

14:1 and you want to turn up the boost?? Are you serious?

*edit* just saw your dyno chart. You need to richen it up by ALOT at 4K rpms, that's just scary.

So if I am reading this correctly, your car made the same corrected power at GTM in Los Angeles, vs. the corrected power at 5800ft elevation? Doesnt this re-open the elevation correction debate??
