Definitely not going to go 2 steps colder. No need for that.

i would run 1 step colder plugs (ngk iridium ) and gap them down to .025 and maybe spend a little tune time just to make sure it dosent detionate in the high revs

The only issue I had with iridium is they break easily when re-gaping.

IIRC, the platinum puck on the platinum plugs can come off from the increased pressure and cause damage.

To gap bigger, they are fragile and you can NOT gap them larger in my experiences.

Closing the gap just takes some pressure on the arm to close the gap up. This does not require pressure on the iridium part.

And why is that???
The 1 step and 2 step are the same how ever you can have more advanced timing on the 2 step. any other wise reason why u wouldn't go for something that is colder and might protect your engine more???????

+1 I have been using the same iridium plugs for the past 2 years without any problems and they where never gapped. I was told they are too sensitive and where already pre gapped to the correct specs. Also when should the plugs be replaced?

I had to close the gap when I ran Nitrous and I broke a couple of the arms. I thought the arms were Iridium or at least a weaker material becuase the plat and copper plugs never broke on me.
