Spent an hour with a stillen rep on the phone...
the problem to me with Stillen is their sales/support staff and the crap they give you. Stillen products run the gambit from high quality to what were they thinking. But Stillens reputation has been mostly tarnished by the way they handle customers... Read this and make your own decision: http://stillensucks.com/stillensuckshomepage.htm
I've always said I think the stock vortech kit is weak. It has too little boost too late. But when you start upgrading it and go crazy with breathing/exhaust mods to get everything you can get out it, the vortech doesn't do all that bad. It's not the ultimate solution or anything. I don't drive my car below 2000 rpms so I really don't care about power coming on that low in the powerband where the stillen might be a little stronger
Here's a stage 3 stillen (red) vs my vortech chart (blue).
I can't find a decent stage 4 dyno that isn't all small, blurry, or on some weird unknown dyno
Both were dynojets, but not the same dyno or location, so there's going to be some amount of differences to account for
IMO the stillen should do really well with water/meth injection, but I haven't heard of anyone really going out and trying it

and look what TT has gotten you, a blown tranny and having to have your block built.
turbos do blow lots of engines, but Alberto most likely blew his from racing it as hard as he was, especially going beyond redline under boost as much as he was. He also ran his car hard when he was NA.
Racing can blow just about anything

You are wrong in your postings and assumptions---ST and a raised rev limit got me a blown motor. Me wanting real power and reliability = block + TT.
You Stillen guys all preach you want safety-its simple dont go FI. If you cant build a motor or replace it, stick to bolt ons. Your better off learning how to drive with bolt-ons than 95% of Stillen owners who cant drive and run 13's. At the end of the day you own a S/C Z that is slow as crap. Enjoy the weaksauce power and eventually the damaged ring lands...Stillen = cheap FI, and cheap and FI dont go together.
+1 on MIA and Sentry, I could jump into an uber weaksauce Stage 1 Stillen and blow it up in 3 passes whats your point?

we used to call them "$tealin" on the maxima forums.
ok, well now this thread has turned into a chevy vs. ford owner loyalty type debate. I am out. To each their own, and if you run TT or Vortec with no problems then congrats. I just dont want to risk it.

Alberto your such a hater
LOL Reptile, the Stillen kit has nothing Im envious of, hence I cant possibly be a hater. I dont like the fact that the SS box comes locked down as well. I also realize not everybody wants 400+whp, but to me if you want ultimate reliability stay NA. Id rather have NA + tune than a Stillen w/generic tune.
for the money, I'd rather have a used C6 vette than a Z with a stillen that will weigh 200+lbs more in the end and probably be more reliable
IMO pretty much all of the kits are good kits in the right hands of a good installer and tuner. I really have no problem with the stillen and think it does satisfy a unique FI market that the other kits don't satisfy
What I think is more important is how overall balanced the car is for what you're trying to do. Big power, and lame tires = no traction, so what's the point of the power then?

If it was all about buying the car and setup to impress everyone on the internet with, then we've all already dissapointed millions by not buying everyone else's exact car and setup
I think everyone should be glad you're happy with what you bought.
The fact that it is weak in terms of power is one thing-you dont want to push the limits of the motor. On the flip side you guys all run locked down tunes (most of which are wayyy rich)-anybody getting down on a TN reflash should do the same for Stillen. So you want reliabilty but 95% of Stillen guys run locked down SS boxes, its ironic isnt it? That is all, I dont want to turn this into a "Stillen sucks thread"

The thing is that dynos from these guys are incredibly untrustworthy. If you had only seen the exhaust dynos thye put out for the G35 sedan exhaust.
Unfortunately, independent dynoing isthe only thing that can be trusted.
If anyone knows the exact model number of the blower used, i can construct a compressor flow diagram for our engines. This will answer once and for all how good the blower sizing is (provided i can find the flow charts online).
