There are two different styles of a-a intercooler cores. There are arguments for both styles, but popular opinion today typically sides with bar and plate being superior (not saying that is the best though..)
Bar & Plate:

Tube & Fin:
Do you see the dimensions on that thing? It's friggin TINY!!!
5.5"x28" and only 2.5" deep!?!? I just held up my fingers in that approximate size, and although 28" ain't bad, 5x5" tall by 2.5" deep overall size is ridiculous.
I could see getting 2 of them on a TT setupt though

Injected is completely spot on. There is tube and fin then there is bar and plate. Bar and plate tends to be more effecient because it has more mass and is essentially a larger heatsink.
It was mentioned that the ebay ones tend to flow better. The funny thing is that an intercooler is not just about having the highest reduction in air temperature or the lowest drop in PSI or being able to flow the most at a given psi but rather a combination and common ground amongst all these qualities. Just because the ebay one flows more does not mean it is going to give you more horsepower. Things such as the quality of the metal and the impurities also affect the ability of the aluminum to absorb heat effeciently.

A little secret in intercooler marketing is they rate the flow of it without the end tanks on it. Those big huge front mounts that do not have staggerd end tanks are a waste of space. Ill take on in that size about 6" thick and it would be fine with good flowing endtanks. My friend with a WRX has had a SS autochrome intercooler on his car for 2 years and it has no problems.
