Regulates boost feedback to the boost controller to moderate variances and pulsation in controlling the wastegate, which in turn controls how much boost the system holds before the WG opens.

EDIT: The hole is about 0.035 - 0.045" wide, so you can essentially buy piece of aluminum stock rod from HD or Lowes which has a diameter similar to the boost line you are running from teh intake to the EBC, then center it on a drill press or lathe and run a tiny drill bit through it.

EDIT2: You can install it yourself in 10 mins

it wont take long it shoud be like a 1 minute thing. i wonder if all the ppl experiencing boost drop andboost poblems on the aps ST kits, was caused by not installing the lil restrictor (orifice)??

Possible for those that picked up a used kit, but more likely inherent to the sh1tty internal WG design APS uses.

To the OP - good luck - hope that works for you

what you need is a vacuum line restrictor pill. it retains pressure and vacuum (obviously by restricting) for a slower response but readings are far more accurate... i guess it's to keep the vacuum and pressure under boost controller and wastegate duty cycles. with the pill out, the vacuum and boost is more prevalent at an earlier rate, so proper tuning is a must without it (kind of like training to pullout before a nut).

here's a video for reference:

i've searched extensively on ebay and google, and i don't think there are any aftermarket companies that'll sell them as the restrictor pills are specific applications. it's better to get specifications from APS directly and purchase the same one through a stock car dealership or fabricate your own. it's made of brass by the way.

good luck.

you dont need it, i ran mine without it for over a year. dont worry about it.

with it or without it, boost control sucks with the single.

this is interesting...i had recently started a thread because I'm also having boosting problems. the weird part though was that i was seeing 13lbs on my car for a while - which it was tuned for - and now the most i see is 10lbs, MAYBE 11.

so, essentially is the only way to see consistent boost all day long, through different weather conditions, to buy the external wastegate?

So the Whole is 0.035 - 0.045" so i can make it anything around there ? Or is there a way you can get a definite measurement.

YOU DONT NEED IT!!!!

it sounds like they didnt hook up the red wire going to the unichip, if youre only hitting 5psi.

that restrictor stabilizes the boost charge for the boost solenoid, it wouldnt cause the boost to be low. check the red wire that goes from the solenoid to the unichip box, i bet its not hooked up. that has happened several times, people cant build more than 5psi, the solenoid isnt hooked up.
