Default Build is almost done!

Hi guys,

my car should be running within the next three weeks. After 6 months ( blown engine) of work and ordering a lot off stuff, the build is finally coming to an end. I ordered the built block from injected performance ( nice service btw ) and put the aps standard tt kit on it myself.

Specs:
- JWT Clutch + Flywheel ( will be replaced soon but don't know what yet )
- Braille racing battery
- HKS Ground wire system
- Koyo radiator
- APS Extreme fuel system
- APS Tall boy
- HKS DLI II
- Cosworth Big Valve CNC Heads VQ35
- Injected performance 260 degrees camshafts
- HKS Headgaskets
- Coolant Bypass modification
- L19 Headstuds
- Arias extreme duty pistons
- Pauter rods
- ARP mainstuds
- Darton Sleeves
- APS 3” racing exhaust
- APS 3.5” down pipes
- Oil cooler
- APS twin turbo kit
- Unichip Q+. ( will be changed for a motec next year)
- Tial 38 mm external WG ( custom made wastegate piping)
- Defi meters, D2 brakes 8 pistons 356mm, D2 suspension, ...

My goals are 600-700hp next year with the other EMS and clutch + flywheel. For now after break in , i am aiming for 500hp.
Pics and videos will follow.

I know the unichip Q+ has improved over the old unichip, but how good is it really? Is it still the offset type of sub-ecu?

I have a lot of pics on the camera but i have troubles with the computer. I am trying to fix it. We only have to install the defi meters and make the externa WG piping. Not so easy. I ll post some pics soon. Tuning will happen on the 24 of july.

The car is done. Just installing some wires from fuel pump and defi meters. Tranny is back on it, exhaust,... I am going to start it up next friday . Ill post pics then and video. With my camera I can upload them. Cellular phone doesnt work Be patient!
Btw what is a good setup for drag racing with 700hp? I want to have some opinions of people with experience. Tranny mods, clutch,... Level 5 axles is a must but do you need to change the bar from the gearbox to the diff. ( dont know the english name ) as well?

nice list
level 5 axle is almost worthless, since there are no aftermarket, inner cv joints.

This may sound as a stupid question, but what are open dumps? I have external wastegates that go back in the exhaust. Do you mean screamer pipe with open dumps? Thx

Something like that. The exhaust flow goes into the wastegate, then exits. On the exhaust side of the wastegate, you can either re-introduce the flow back into the main exhaust, or you can bolt an open pipe onto it to let the flow vent into the air. This setup is commonly called an "open dump" wastegate solution. It can be done with just about any turbo system that uses external wastegates...

The concensus is that it allows your turbo(s) to spool faster, which reduces any lag that you may have. You'll notice it immediately when a car has this type of exhaust setup when the driver goes wide open throttle on the gas. All of the sudden a deep growl of a nice exhaust turns into a live NASCAR session...

Hope this helps.

Are you sure you have external wastegates? It sounded like you were running a standard APS TT kit in your post, which has internal gates.

I have the standard aps tt kit, with the manifolds from the extreme one. So i bought 38 mm tial wastegates and made the tubes for connection by myself. The internal wastegates are gone and welded shut. Or something like that. Sorry for my english. So then I dont need to worry for boost pressure. Internals are not that good for high boost levels. I'll post the pics.

Doh! I missed that in your original post, sorry.

hmm, yes pics! I'm surprised you're the first one who has dome something like this. Sounds like it'll be a sick setup. The internal gates are one of the only things I dislike about that kit.

Engine is finished. It has been started up a few times. Sounds great, but the exhaust leaks. Between turbo and manifold. I had brought them to a shop for reparation after the blown engine but it leaks. So now I need to pull the engine back out, fix it and put it back in. I have no time to do it now, so i brought the car to a shop. Their agenda was full untill 21 of august. 1 week of work and then tune. So this sucks big time. But the engine runs great and didnt leak oil at all. Its worth something. now all I have to do is wait ( and pay for the working hours )

I'll update. The car is still in the shop. They are waiting for a piece of wiring from nissan and some other stuff I cant translate . Normally when this arrives the block can finally go back into the car and it will be tuned immediately. So with a little bit of luck I will be driving again by the end of octobre. Fingers crossed ( finally after almost a year!)
PS Its officially the fastest known setup in Europe, for now. Hopefully I can keep it that way
