Dang thats insane. Yeah man, my turbo only has 5,000 Miles Max on it. I just don't how they could have gotten messed up.
I hear ya. My turbos blew due to a blocked oil supply line. I got a little over 100 miles on the first one and less than 10 miles on the second one. I have around 4,000 miles since we figured out the problem and everything works great. I hope you can figure out what happen to yours ... so you can have a little peace of mind and not worry that it will happen again after you fix it.

One more question, since my Turbo needs to come out to replace the cartridge should i install a Tial External Wasgate ? What is the benefits oh having it and how hard is it to install it ?
Darkest ... the $1,400 was to replace a blown turbo, not the cost of the kit. I bought the Greddy TT kit with intercooler for $5,400. The Greddy kit does not include everything you will need for a good setup (gauges, BOV, fuel pump and return).
On a APS ST kit you can only install a new wheel set. they are bb turbos cant rebuild them Greddy turbos are non bb turbos there for you can rebuild the whole turbo. I have seen the connections come loose that powers the external pump to supply the oil to that turbo come loose and have the turbo fail, just because the turbo is getting some oil doesnt mean its getting enough oil. A tial waste gate is only helpful because it holds the boost more accurately than a internal. If you are running on a stock motor i would not worry about a external waste gate. They only come in on high boost applications and even then it all depends on how you plan on using the car.

Thank you for your post and PM. I will contact you shortly. Now about the oil pump and the connections how can you tell if the connection is coming loose? Is there any signs or you just need to listen for it or is there a way to test it. Let me know thanks.
well the aps kit if i remeber right comes with those crappy little plastic wire taps and you can hear it run if you put the car in the air and have someone jiggle the wires alittle and if they're loose youll hear the pump cut off and on in a weird pattern. I have seen them install to the point where they stay on and oil leaks into the intake and starve it for oil and kill the turbo even though oil is flowing through the turbo.
a faulty pump doesnt cause the turbo to make grinding noises. IF it does, its gone, no chance of it being good anymore.
to see if the pump is working, turn the key to ACC and have somebody listening under the passenger side of the car, you should hear it come on. but it will only run about 5 seconds.
as far as the turbo is concerned, you cannot rebuild bb turbos, and yes a cartridge costs 1000...
BUT, depending on what is wrong with it, you might be able to get a brand new cartridge from TurbosDirect for 400, and yes, thats for ball bearing units. if parts can be salvaged, they will do a cartridge exchange for any garrett setup for 400. you must call them and tell them what is wrong with yours, if they say ok, you send them yours, and they send you a brand new one, i did this months back.
