Default car wont start after walbro 255 install, need some insight

Can i install the injectors w/ the pump?

So i installed my walbro 255 fuel pump. I then loaded a vortech map/parameters that is supposed to be based off of a walbro/440cc combo. I hadnt installed the injectors yet and wanted to see if the car would start. It wouldnt. It just kept turning over. When the key was put in the on position i could hear the pump come on and when i removed it again it had fuel in it.

Is it too much pressure for the injectors? Do i need a different map? Should i install my 440cc injectors and see if itll crank? I have three possible maps for the utec.

Right now i put the stock pump back in and it cranked after a few seconds. I dont want to go through the trouble of installing the injectors to have the car not start at all. It had cooled down for a few hours since it was started last.

Ive read about issues of warm starts with the vortech, but right now the vortech isnt even on.

Please help!

Are you sure no sensors are unplugged in the engine bay?

100%, car has been running fine. Only thing i touched was the fuel pump assembly.

It should not make any difference what map is loaded the car should still start.Even if the the pump is suplying more fuel the car should still run,it sounds like either a bad pump or check one spark plug to see if it is gas fouled which it should not be with the walbro.

It should at least TRY to start....

My only suggestion would be to open the fuel tank back up and double check everything.

I mean it turns over with the walbro, but it wont crank up or sputter.

Bad pump? Damnit. Can the stock one hold out if i keep it under 3k rpms and no boost? It should! no extra fuel is needed. going to have to baby it.

For clarity, the stock pump is back in now and the car cranks fine! All i did was reinstall it, even with the walbro modifications.

are you sure that you had the walbro plugged in, it is definitely not too much pressure at all. it is probably something really stupid would be my guess.

good luck man

Turn the key to "on" without starting it. Did you hear the pump come on? If not, it's not getting power or is bad. You will definitely hear the Walbro 255 come on. It's much louder than stock.

so you can hear the walbro come on when you turn the key to the on position? I tcould simply be a bad walbo fuel pump, when they fail, they typically just don't woek altogether...meaning they either work perfectly or not at all....

the walbro and stock fule pump do not differ enough to create a start-up issue simply based off their pumping capacity/operation. Can you leave the fuel tank access panal open (fuel pump assembly installed completely though) and turn the key and physcially pinch the outgoing fuel line to see if you feel any fuel pressurized through the line when switching the key? again, th sound of the pump kickin gon should be the telltale sign, but if something is internally wrong with the pump, it could sound as if it is switching on but not moving any fuel...

good luck

hmm, the pump seems to be pushing fuel.

that would suck that its broke.

but more importantly, can i install my 440cc injectors and run the stock pump to limp the car to a tuner? Once there ill get a new walbro installed. I figure the larger injectors will keep the car rich.
I will keep the rpm and throttle pressure down to avoid high loads.

this is shot in the dark here so take it for what it is worth:

If you are using a map for 440cc injectors, but running 290cc's, your ems most likely would be scalling them back for start up due to you stockers being 290cc. In other words you might not be getting enough fuel uppon start up.

Bad or disconnected impeller on the pump or, maybe it's a long shot, but maybe the pump is turning backwards?

have you tried to run the utec off of your 0 map (stock settings)? Try that before switching them out

tried map 0 and a vortech map

going to try installing injectors.

I may have not drilled the regulator out enough, going to double check that.

You only have to drill 1/16" deep, be careful!
