Does 9:1 CR give you better response than 8:5:1?

I heard that lower CR gives you faster spools but I am not very knowledgeable in this area. . . .

Thanks

lower CR allows you to safely run more boost, the motor will have less tq and power off the turbo though...

hey Ziv:

- can you ellaborate on why the UR PUlley caused a crank failure?

- I also heard that the pathfinder mod can actually decrease the flow of coolant through the block (affecting velocity of the fluid or something)... have you heard this?

Man, it seems like your car is taking forever to get back on the road. I am glad to see you're almost done. I am sure you can't wait any longer.

My previous setup was 8.8:1 and I wanted to stay close to that and the 9:1 were instock. really, between 8.5 and 9:1 it would be very hard to tell the difference unless you were running some very large turbos. Heck, even dropping from stock compression to 8.8:1 I couldn't really tell much of a difference.

Tell me about it. I have been insanely busy with work, so the time didn't mean much because I wouldn't have had time to put the motor back in. Things are slowing down considerably now, so the anxiety is starting to build

Congrats Aaron, that's great news!

My motor is finally getting broken in and should be tuned very soon. The way things have gone since February, you'll still probably be up and running before me though.

Arias shelf pistons are available to everyone. But the extreme version that GTM and Forged Performance make, are spec custom pistons that are only available through the respective shops. We also sell these pistons to other shops and engine builders to use in their own buildups.

I would say, that both the GTM spec, and FP Spec pistons are the best pistons available for our cars.

I meant to ask irshad about your car last week, but unfortunately I haven't spent enough money with him yet for him to return my call

I am hoping to have everything tuned and done by the end of the month.

Thanks for the post. Kinda worries me about the custom UR pulley that I have coming for my SC kit but I think I have some tricks up my sleeve that might remedy that.

Good luck on the finished build! I'm sure it'll work out well this time. You seem to have everything planned out and covered (down to the floor mats!).

Mind if I ask which ebay special oil cooler you went with?

HEY JUST CURIOUS, since you are using lighter pistons, is it also necessary to remove an even amount of weight off of the lobes on the crank to keep the engine balanced? Maybe not necessary since its such a small amount?

The crankshaft should be balanced to the weight of the piston/rod combo. So regardless of piston weight, balancing is required. You can remove weigh from the crankshaft, or add weight by drilling, and welding heavy metal to the crank shaft in order to bring the balance into line.
