Default Average MPG on boosted Z's

No, this is not your weekly MPG thread.
I've done some research and was not able to find any threads covering specifically this.

My Z is my daily driver, but I plan to boost it in the future just for fun in the long run and run "lowest enjoyable psi" possible. Since it is a long commute from home to work, that is why I am concerned.

The question is:

What are Z's (low boost) getting average for MPG (or total miles per tank)?

Still in order for me to have an average I'd have to know about how many miles you drove in those 7-10 days.

Woww... 22mpg?
I get that in my Z stock, so I guess the MPG will only be worst if you really gun it, that's what I am guessing.

PS.: This may sound like a noob question but I have never owned a Turbo car before: How can you stay out of boost in a Turbo car?!

Avg'd 17 city / 21 hwy while at 10psi on APS' injectors. On a road trip, I could squeeze about 320 - 340 mi. on a tank of gas. In town (work and back), it was about 270mi.

according to the gauge in the car i used to get 16 without turbo and now on APS single turbo the gauge reads 24. I guess when a turbo isnt in boost it ionizes the air and you get better fuel economy.

ionizes the air? that's some Riley Martin stuff right there

When not in boost, a properly tuned Z should not have any mileage significantly worse than prior to it being boosted

and that my friends is why turbo cars are so great ; ). I get about 25-27 mpg in my twin turbo 300zx and just a tad under that in the 350z. Obviously when I get on it a lot that drops to more like 15-17 but it doesn't matter, just nice to know you can go on road trips and get decent mileage.

I have logged a fair amount over the couple yrs of my FI experience. Let me tell you that a GOOD ems will make a big impact on your fuel economy.

To go back to stock days, I was getting around 21-23 average combined driving. near 30 mpg on the highway.... that said, the car was only N/A for about 3K miles and I think the milage would have improved over time

So I boosted the car on stock block and only ran it for about 1K miles or so and never really logged any fuel economy on that....... sorry

So I build my motor run 14psi tapering to 11 on an 8.8:1 motor with stock heads and cams. out of box APS fuel system and custom dyno tuned unichip. car would see around 16-17 mpg in combined driving. I averaged just over 24 mpg on straight highway trips -> logged a couple over 400 miles. Well after upping the boost, that motor went soooooo....

Onto my most recent build. I am running 9:1 CR with gtm stage 1 fi cams. APS extreme fuel system and here's the biggie -> HKS Fcon. I am tuned to 15 psi across the board. I just filled up today and average 19.2 mpg. This was litterly no highway driving, a lot of letting the car warm up due to the cold weather here, but not too much overly aggressive boosting. I logged my trip to Chicago and averaged 26.4 mpg. I have done a few longer "tours" to the tune of 250 to upwords of 350 miles. These were fairly hard miles with pretty consistant boosting and I would see around 16-18 mpg depending on the weather.

using my two ems's as comparison, highway driving and combined driving fuel economy both improved despite running a bigger fuel system, bigger injectors, and a significant amount more boost. Though I did increase compression from 8.8:1 to 9:1...

UTEC has gotten me around 21 mpg on the highway at 7 psi and greddy twins. 358 whp (uncorrected dynodynamics)

Turbonetics netted around 22 mpg at 9.5 psi. 331 whp (uncorrected dynodynamics)

My build god willing will be done at the end of next month, and we will see how she does then, I am predicting 12mpg at 16 psi for the first 2-3k miles, lol. I will probably stay in boost all the time!!! 5XX whp (maybe 6xx whp) *uncorrected dynodynamics*

I get 300 on the highway as well and like Alberto, I get 200 mpg on a tank when boosting (even just a few pulls). I am at 161 right now, I had 2 3-5 pulls on boost and I have 1/4 tank left.
I guess it's just the nature of the beast.
