header with vortech... not so sure...and Hight flow cats....
nothing wrong with being thorough and specific IMO
cars, physics, and engineering, etc usually aren't simple yes/no one-worded answer subjects
the root question for this thread was what size exhaust etc should someone get with a vortech. The simplified answer is:
it depends
from that point on, I'd rather educate someone than give them the answer - which is still a variable depending on what you're looking to do

ok !
as I remember my old thermodynamic lessons...
in a combustion engine... even with pistons or turbine... you have two kind of stress...
thermal and mechanical...
when you are pulling down more HP, you are producing more heat and also more thermal and mechanical stress on the engine... and more heat you are producing... and more the efficiency of the engine is affected...
so, a better exhaust system will help to exit the heated gas from the combustion chamber... and will low down the thermal stress... and increase the efficiency of the engine and free some hp.... for sure... it is more easy for the engine to push the hot exhaust gas outside... and if it required less power to push out the hot gas... the more power is available for the piston that is pulling the fresh air into the engine... and the Vortech will have to work less to push the air into the engine... psi drop... for the same work...
less psi = less air coming into the engine for the same work = less mechanical stress... yes but not that much... the main mechanical stress is produced by detonation... mechanical stress...
