Default FI and lower compression

Has anybody put a thicker head gasket to lower the compression when going FI so you could run higher PSI

not sure what u asking?

Are u asking why not just add a thicker gasket to a stock motor? OR are u asking why not add a thicker gasket with a built motor (piston n rods)?

I'll answer both for ya: if u only add a thicker gasket to lower the compression u still have the weak oem rods which would probably snap and break everything else with it. Then u also have to face the fact that it wont lower it much in the first place. And the real question is, are u crazy enough to fork out $$$ just for the tear down of a head to put in a thicker head gasket?
Now, if u had a built motor why would u want to drop the compression even lower with a thicker gasket? Why not just get the pistons with the compression u want??? BINGO?!?!?!?!

+1. The rods are the weak point, not necessarily the compression ratio which would only be slightly lowered by a thicker headgasket. I'm sure the open deck block wouldn't help when running a thick headgasket either.

thicker headgasket and all the bolts that bolt in the timing covers are going to be off on the heads.

think about it, the timing cover bolts into the block and heads, you move the heads out and then the bolts wont line up correctly.

for the amount of time and work it takes to get down to be able to change the headgasket. you might as well just take the block to the machine shop with some pistons and rods.

What part of Australia are you in??

if you are set on thicker head gaskets, Cometic will make them in any thickness you want.

all the S2000 guys do this since they have forged internals any way. as stated previously, the rods are the weak point of the engine, not so much the CR.

its not an option with a V motor with a front timing cover like ours...

S2000s do it cause they have 11 plus CR stock. those motors suck!!

I was just commenting that this sort of mod has been done before. And not to start a flame war, but I'm not sure how those engines suck, care to elaborate?

but that would defeat the purpose of using a thicker headgasket to lower the CR. decking the block would bring the CR back up again.
