Well, I posted this thread because I needed a reminder as to why I mod. I've been throwing around the idea of putting my car back to stock and picking up a new toy. I've been trying to analyze the cost/benefit of finishing my car, or picking up a new autocross/track dedicated car. I don't know. I'm still lost. Oh well.

I started modding because it was entertaining to take a perfectly good car and make it 'more better.' I see what's left in the car, and just not sure if I should keep going or cut my losses. I got time.
I guess, is it the building process that most seek or the end product?
Can't beat it:
-boost rush feel
-using the grim reaper as a braking marker
-co worker jealousy
-cockpit techno glow
-a stereo that rivals many audiophile home systems
-respect in the Z brotherhood heirarchy
and if you marry the right person you can pass off most major purchases as a gift to her.

buying parts and putting them together to create my "own" ride is just something else! When it's all done, boosting and beating just about everything on the street, what can I say~ hallelujah! It's the greatest toy ever! I'm married and I have to put on a mission impossible, CIA top secret operations to buy parts these days...
That adds more fun to modding as well!

you mod because its a hobby and you enjoy it...
you enjoy working on your car, and you enjoy seeing positive gains from it.
unlike other things you invest your money in where you see no return, modding a Z always shows returns....speed!! nuff said

anybody can own a Z. And there are plenty of Zs (stock) rolling around the world, but when you mod your Z, it makes it yours not just another 350Z. Modding brings out your style and your imagination through the car. I guess you could say I mod to be unique and yes the feel of boost is awesome rush

fr me its both the build, and the finished product. every time i get a part, i will go immediately to my garage and install it. im like a kid at christmas, only ups and fedex replace santa.
then i take a good look at my car and say...damn, i did this. i went from stock to this. it takes time, but remember, all great things take time. so for me, its a hobby, but often times i feel as if i work for the car because 1 mod needs another to support it. it gets expensive but when you drive it, not trying to sound corny or lame, but it really does set you free in a sense

1st and foremost....b/c when I turn on my car...I want it to return the favor. And nothing does that like forced induction. Whether its nitrous, turbos, sc'ers or all of the above....it gets my jollies off.
2nd - going fast is in my blood. I don't do anything half-assed, so its ***** to the wall or nothing at all.
3rd - Friends don't let friends drive stock. Hell, I even modded my wife's 06 Audi A4. I just can't leave sh*t alone. Always looking for was to improve something that might not always need improving in others mind. B/C I'm a perfectionist....and my toys are never done....just in between improvements.

I do it for me!
Nothing like looking at what you have created and being proud of it. The added boost is alway nice as well...and I do it to prove that NOTHING is unattainable!
