Arrow What should I do? *FI / Low Cost*

Okay, I'm sure this question has been asked many times before, but I'm not going to try to throw in a bunch of stuff.

Look I wanna go FI. I don't wanna build a monster, I don't wanna do crazy engine work, I don't wanna have a RACE car. With that said heres my question...

I think I wanna spend maybe around $5000 to start off with on a FULL kit. (to start off means I can add diff. stuff and upgrades later on)

Here is what I was thinking would be the best bang for the buck.

Vortech Super Charger FULL KIT
Turbonetics Single turbo full kit
ATI ProCharge Full Kit

What are your thoughts and opinions on these kits, maybe pros and cons? If theres anyone out there with some REAL good input please post and if you can please do not be biased. If not GTFO

You are going to spend way more than 5k to have everything set up properly. THE words FI and Cheap don't go together. I suggest you talk to a shop near you and get advice from the shop owner.

If you're planning to buy a new kit (not used) $5000 for a new set up is not a bad deal....you just have to find a good vendor that can give you that price. Expect to spend $2000+ more for other goodies i.e tune, gauges etc. and not including FI installation. I told myself my budget is only $6000 including goodies (I installed the kit myself) and now total spend $9500 and I'm still slow

SC = N/A on steroids (a little safer for your engine although tune is the most important insurance)
Turbo = More torque (puts your back on your seat when you hit boost)

G/L.

Save your money and get a greddy kit done right around $10000 installed.

Dont mess with the FI!

i have had the procharger and turbonetics st kits....both great kits and will work well with a stock motor....how much boost do u want to run?? safe and under 10psi?? or more....if more build the motor....wait till u save up another 5-6k and go GREDDY TT.....
if not...at 8psi i hasd 405/398 with the tn st....7/8psi with the procharger was 377/320......not as much torque but waay funer to drive ...virtually no lag....unlike the tn was kickin in at 4k-4500....

vortech with a 3.12 pulley can be had for around 7k installed with utec for around 380whp. much less risk of going kaboom then the turbonetics. if you are planning on building your motor down the road just go ahead with a greddy tt install for around 10k like eagle said.

if you can install it yourself, you may be able to do the vortech tuner kit, utec, deatchwerks 440cc injector and tune for just under 5500.

I did my setup for under 6k. Included tuner kit, utec, aps injectors, wideband, boost gauge, oil temp gauge, oil sandwhich plate, misc install pieces/tools and tune.

I'd say greddy twin, keep it under 400 rwhp, get a good reliable tune it cost a little more then what you want to spend but worth it in the long run, after save for a engine build.

Guys, I know Cheap isn't the way to go, I'm not saying I'm gunna go cheapo on the kit. I'm just saying which kit is the best for the price TO START WITH! I know I will have to add more stuff to it

Plus this car is really all I got, I don't wanna over do it at all, I'm not looking for 500whp. Just looking for a decent boost in HP.

By the way I have seen the Vortech full kit go for about 4-5k brand new. So I prolly will go that route, plus I will install it myself, it seems easy for a mechanically inclined person.

What do you guys think?

Do your own installation is a good idea just get a good VQ shop to tune it and you'll learn more about your car. G/L and have fun with it.

1. if you are looking to purchase a kit through the forum don't share the thread with all of the Vultures on the forum and show them the killer deal you have found.

2. If you buy a used kit you run the risk of receiving both defective/incomplete parts. More than likely there will always be something missing from the kit. This being said, you can find great deals on the forum. From this kit it already looks like it is missing a fuel pump. Anybody see the e-manage? It just looks like the stock fmu from the kit. Lastly, the Z kits don't necessarily work with the G, so you need to do some research.

3. You can go FI on a budget, but leave yourself a safety net because you will almost always run over budget.

4. Check the FI section of my350z.com.

Hope all of this helps.
