Default will I be crazy to do this?

I own a g35 twin turbo greddy with 620rwhp wich should make anybody happy with the hp, but I have developed an irrational dislike to the car.
the problem is that i cant stand the smell of fumes in the car at idel or in my garage. I was thinking of getting High Flow Cats to solve this problem at the risk of losing hp. I belive that I could benefit from HFC in the sense that I would not hate my car anymore, also since I hace dump pipes the problem of back preasure would not be too much of an issue and I could retuen to a 500rwhp wich i belive is the ideal rwhp for the street. then when I want I could swap my test pipes an get my maximum rwhp fi I decide to go to the track.

so there am I crazy?
by the way this is my car

why would gas smell have anything to do with HFC?

do you have an AAM RFS?

620 is my race tune i guess I will be loosing some serious HP if I restrict my exhaust flow by the way I have the greddy TT exhaust

You are not going to plug the pipes that much

the 500 detune is a choice, more street practical, not a fault of the HF cats

thats what i was thinking...going with HFC's is NOT going to cause a 120 whp loss all on its own. i mean sure you can tune it down to 500 no problem, but just installing a more restricting down pipe is not going to cause that severe of a decrease

Less restrictive exhaust = more engine heat = need to use less timing and/or richer a/f = less hp. How much, who knows, but yeah...tuning down would be a smart move I'd think.

He is only losing about 10% of his flow.

he may not have even been able to take advantage of the full flow to begin with....

I don't think he will lose more than 10HP if he keeps his tune where it is.

Is your car tuned to run excessively rich for safety?

What are your A/Fs during idle and cruise?

Which fuel system are you using (if any)?

Back in the day when I was N/A we use to all use Crawford High Flow cats, don't know what would be the best flowing one at the moment though.

If you are gonna get HFC's, look into Fast Intentions HFC's. They make good stuff.

CarlosG

I think your idea is of retuning and going with some HFC is a great idea. Not only will you enjoy your car a bit more, but you can run a nice pump gas tune without spending all the money on Race gas. 600hp is over kill on the streets. I never run my 700hp tune on the streets, and maybe haved run it 3 or 4 times due to the cost of C16. I run 500 all day long and never have needed anything more. I think with the HFC and a good pump tune should get rid of the smell. I run the AAM fuel rails and APS 3.5 down pipes and APS 3" with twin pumps and my car does not smell to bad. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

I have the CJ fuel system, but I'll be making some changes when I get my new sleeved engine.
