Default Turbonetics and Headers

Has anyone had any experience installing a Turbonetics kit with DC Sport headers? Can the headers be used with the Turbonetics kit?

Thanks

how do headers generally affect the performance of turbochargers? I know its been done before with the TN kit. It would be really easy to do with the STS kit. I'm thinking about throwing some crawfords on there but man that would be alot of money and I have no idea what kind of gains i would see. Any ideas?

Larger pre-turbo piping means greater mass flow capability but slower spool. This is because the same mass air flow through a larger tube will travel slower than through the same flowing through a smaller tube.

Picture a two garden hoses of different diameters with the same amount of water flowing through them. Which will shoot the water out with greater force?

They will also cause rubbing and noise with the downpipe being in such close proximity.

In short, I'd recommend not doing it on either a Turbonetics or STS kit.

Oh, and the OP's question should be added to the "newbie" thread.

In hindsight, I don't think you'll make any more power on a stock motor. The only time headers will be beneficial is pushing for very high power levels on a built motor. That is, if you don't mind a little omre lag.

Very true, I was running Crawford Headers with my TN setup and I would hit full boost about 4500 rpms.

I wouldn't think it would become required to add headers or larger manifolds until you were pushing, say, 700+whp.

At that point you'd probably see a large gains in power at higher rpms/boost.

Without any doubt, the AEM DC Sport headers will work with the turbonetics single turbo kit.

Yeah, if you put a dent the size of a golf ball in the side of the downpipe, which is already a little small to begin with. They "work", but there's absolutely no reason to use them over stock manfiolds.
