Default Choices

I want to supercharge my Z and there are a lot of options out there. The 3 I'm strongly considering are Stillen, Vortech, or HKS. My question is which is the better and more reliable choice of the 3, and are there any other good options that I might have missed????

Just warning you, you are going to get flamed for asking a question that has been answered a million times. I suggest doing a search (i know, the search is a pain in the *** though). Try doing a google search like "site:my350z.com supercharger options" - that usually works better for me than wading through hundreds of posts that matched "options".

I'll try to break it down for you quick here...

Most people here hate on the Stillen. It is a lot of money for the peak power that it outputs. However, if you're looking for stoplight to stoplight power, or autocrossing power, that is the most reliable supercharger kit, this is the way to go. I suggest looking for a used one.

Other options are Vortech and ATI ProCharger. I'm going with the Vortech kit, because I like to play around with stuff and want to learn tuning (Stillen is set-it-and-forget-it).

Well, I could go on, but all of this information is somewhere in this forum. A good start for the Vortech is here https://my350z.com/forum/forced-induction/270770-vortech-faq-read-this-before-asking-vortech-questions.html

Beofre you get flamed and a ration of $hit. Search around here. There is a TON of information. The questions your asking can easily be researched on here.

The one you missed is the ATI procharger. Thats my personal fav. I just like the way it sounds.

There is a Vortech FAQ that is very informative. Sentry65 wrote it and it will answer everything you need to know about the Vortech and even some about other superchargers. When using the search on here click for the keyword to be found in the title's of posts only and use the boolian search method. Click off on those two boxes and the search is much more accurate. IMO the Vortech is the most widely used therefore if you have problems it will be easier to find answers. That is the main reason I went with a Vortech myself.

Thanks for the help folks. Really. I'll get the hang of these forum topics and try not to ask such common and redundant questions.

Vortech.

I haven't seen enough real world info on the new HKS GTS to tell about that one yet.

I wated to go turbo at first, but I have aftermarket headers and a true dual and I was told that I'd have to do a lot of fab work to go turbo, and also get rid of my headers. Honestly, I don't know how true that is. I am interested in that procharger set up, but I don't have the money. Is there an experation date on that offer, or is this good whenever?

You shouldn't base your choice between turbo and supercharger based on headers and exhaust. Trust me, they are a VERY small part of what you'll be dealing with in the long run. Make your choice upon which kit you think suits your needs, then make it work.

Basing your choice upon headers and exhaust makes no sense, and in the long run the work getting rid of those parts is FAR less of a headache than the buyers remorse you will experience for not getting what you really want.

If you go with a TT kit you'll be removing the headers anyway, and with a ST kit you'll just spend a little more time swapping stockers back in, and at that point you can sell the headers to help pay for your other mods. The exhaust is really a very small issue. For a ST, a reverse y-pipe is something that an exhaust shop can weld up for $150 at most.

Thanks A LOT! You think things like that but sometimes it doesn't make sense until someone else says it.
