From the NJ State Police in a statement to the associated press:
On Saturday March 15th at aproximately 23:30 hours while attempting to cross the Garden State Parkway at exits 82a, Joe O Rly was struck and killed by a white 2004 Nissan 350Z convertible that was traveling in the northbound lanes.
Witnesses stated that the Nissan may have been traveling at speeds in excess of 120mph at the time of the accident, and several Mitsubishi Evos were also observed traveling at high rates of speed behind the 350z, and appeared as if they were attempting to catch up to the 350Z , but could not. Witnesses said the 350Z was really really fast, and super sexy.
The state police are currently investigating the accident and if illegal street racing may have been a contributing factor in the accident, but stated that it really could not be considered a street race, when the Evos did not stand a chance anyway. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
Family members of Joe ORLY wer notified and commented on the incident and only stated : "thank god it was not a P.O.S. Honda that killed Joe. Joe loved Nissan 350Z's and would have been proud to have met his fate at the hands of one so super fast and sexy"
At the time R0mey could not be reached for comment.
