Reputable shop for tuning in Texas
First, what reputable/reliable shops are there in Texas that are capable of tuning a non-rev Vortech? Second, what can I expect to pay for dyno time and tuning? Finally, have they had any reported failures while doing a tune?

SGP....Houston TX. They have been doing tuning and builds for a long time. They have a good name. Ask for Mark...very kool guy.

SGP in Houston. They can do ANYTHING on your Vortech. They are also a beta tester for the Osiris (UpRev's software for the Z) and can set your stock ECU to work with your engine management solution (UTEC, F-Con, etc.). Ask for Mark or Thomas.
I bought an early release of Osiris from UpRev in Austin and they provided first-rate service and programing for both our cars (Z and a G). This was when both were still NA.
No experience with them for an FI application but various board members related that they were tuning their FI applications using the MAF input without a MAP sensor. I'm not a tuner myself (and I wouldn't presume to question UpRev's expertise) but this seems to be a short-cut that might not provide as much protection/information as an FI motor needs to run reliably (?).
Perhaps one of the UpRev guys (Punkid?) could chime in and enlighten/update us.

The OP wanted a recommendation for a shop that WE felt would be good with FI in Texas !!!!
Not because a shop has a sign on their door and have a few FI cars parked in front of it with a Dyno means that they are good at FI G/Z's.
I am not going to trash a shop....but in my opinion I do NOT recommend them for FI work on the Z/G platform.... Non FI'ed work? OK !
So I guess next you are going to say that UPREV is just as good as SGP !!!!
BTW: As a paid member.....I am allowed to give unlimited opinions

Here's what I have to say to the OP: do some research on tuning based on a MAP sensor vs. a re-scaled MAF sensor. Keep in mind that the OEM MAF sensor is after the blower, so when you're in boost I don't know if this contributes to background noise in the signal. Also, the MAF sensor is meant to read a certain amount of air. This means that the MAF has to be re-scaled and I don't how that affects resolution in you're tune.
I'm not going to say anything bad about UpRev b/c I have never used them. Contact a few TX members who are FI and have used UpRev to tune.

XKR any supporting data to back it up or just assuming they don't know? Not trying to be rude, but this whole my350z.com seems to be very political. Do you have any proof to your remarks or are these just assumptions made about shops. I think that people can say they have a preference for a certain shop, but to say another shop can't do something or doesn't do it well is a different story and I think you should have first hand experience if making those comments.
Not trying to sound rude, if you do have first hand experience then let me know what the problem was that made you think they are not good for FI. Do you know anyones car that they have worked on that was FI and didn't do a good job?
Again, I understand if you are just saying that SGP in your opinion is better that is fine, but you stated that you would NOT recommend them for FI. Just tell us why NOT.

Biochem7 and Mr Jax have both hit on part of my reason for coming to my conclusion. I have done intensive research when I was planning to go FI. There is nothing I could say that will prevent you from thinking that I am not bias. I gave my opinion ...SGP....and I will stick to it.
