I read a few posts discussing this but never found a difinitive answer so here it is. 26x7 3/4x3.5 with a 20 inch core and 2.5 inlet and outlet.

Good info. For some reason it seems a lot narrower than 20" when I look at it.

Most of the time the dimensions are given strictly in core size. So in this case it would be 20x7.75x3.5.

I want a wider one. . .those stupid curved inlet/outlet pipes could have easily been a few inches shorter allowing for an added 5-6" to the core. Meh. . .I'll design my own. Thanks Corky Bell!

^^ are you wanting to change for a purely athestics, bc the stock IC is fine for normal power levels.

plus, it cant be any wider if you want to keep the bumper brace stock. bigger you'll have to notch the brace or remove it altogether.

Nope, I want to keep my OEM G bumper. I'm already planning on making plastic "ducts" or guides for one or both of the fascia vents to direct air into the intercooler. And yes, plans are for more than out of the box power.

Oh. . .I mean longer? Maybe we're talking different dimensions. Looking from the front, it seems it would be more beneficial if it stuck out further to the right and left. Ie 28 x 7.75 x 3.5 instead of 20 x 7.75 x 3.5. It was my impression that notching is only necessary for "deeper" (aka >3.5") cores.

I found these intercoolers online made by treadstone. I thought about going with the TR10 with 2.5 inlet and outlet they measure 24x10.5x3.5, and they sell for a little over 250. For now I'll stick with my spearco but when I decide to upgrade I might give them a try.

Turbonetics (Spearco) makes a universal intercooler that has a 28"x7.75"x3.5" core. It comes with 3" inlet/outlet so you'll have to get some reducer couplings if you go with it. It would be perfect if you wanted to keep the bumper brace and wanted to stay with a name brand high quality intercooler.

Here is a pic of mine. Mine is 28"x10.5"x3.5", but the shorter one would look basically the same behind the stock bumper.

awesome. . .that "length" looks much nicer! I'll have to make some measurements and do some flow/pressure calcs.

Thanks, the universal intercooler I mentioned should be efficient for over 700hp. I would imagine the difference in pressure drop over the stock Vortech intercooler would be under .5psi.

i was thinking that the IC sat behind the bumper brace. but just checking, it actually just sits right below, so as long as you kept it the same height as the stock one, you'd be fine. That pretty much eliminates any of the "cheap" ones bc they are 12" in height

icevex makes some good looking IC's. pretty much the same as the ebay bar/plate Ic's on ebay for ~250. i think there's enough extra length in the IC pipes that if you just cut them, you could fit the longer IC Taurran mentions(http://www.turboneticsinc.com/produc...&category_id=9) or Bell makes nices ones as well for cheaper http://www.bellintercoolers.com/pages/AAMain.html

I'd love to get a bigger IC, but i'm only 400hp on a dyno dynamics and have meth, so it would be a waste of money. I have a G as well

Keep in mind that price there is MSRP. You can buy one for a bit cheaper if you contact a Turbonetics dealer.

Just wondering man, any way to fit a 9-10 intercooler without losing the brace and notching?

You may be able to extend the intercooler piping lower, or buy an intercooler where the end tanks have inlets/outlets in the center and move the whole intercooler down. Of course, you'd have to be VERY careful with clearance and I'm not sure how much room you could make by doing it.

If you're really worried about the brace, I'd say just go with a shorter, wider, and thicker core. Truthfully, the intercooler I mentioned above would be more than efficient for all but maybe 3-4 350z's on this website.

with full custom tubing, it would be hard to say if a 10.5" high IC that you are using would still fit under the bumper brace using stock vortech tubing shortened to fit the extra length.

i know i dont have another 2.5" or so space (7.7.5 vs 10.5") between the brace and the IC.
