Default Turbonetics Kit Advice

I recently purchased the turbonetics kit and i am going to be using a AEM TRU-BOOST boost controller, what is the recommended MAX PSI i should put onto a stock motor to run safely? We were thinking to have the low setting at 5, the high at 7, and the scramble at 8.5. I know turbonetics says 8 PSI, but i am assuming they don't want people to blow their motors with their kit. Also, does anyone know of any problems areas i need to address with this kit? I have heard watch the A/C lines around the manifold, anything else?

Go to: Tech Area and then Forced Induction...READ UP before you get by others.

Be smart about it and keep it at 8 lbs, or have a blown motor later on down the road.

I would not go above 8 PSI unless you have the car tuned to whatever pressure you want. The kit is very reliable with the out of box config but if you go and up the boost you need to adjust the fuel and timing curve proportionally and that takes someone who has experience tuning the Z. DOn't just throw on a piggyback and think you can nail the timing curve. The VQ has very fickle internals.

i paid 4700 for the kit brand new, and my brother owns his own auto shop and is experienced in turbos (he has a volvo turbo and a hayabusa turbo) so he said he will install it for me for 600-800.

It's pretty bad that your own brother would charge you to install it, just do it yourself then.

anything automotive, off of university ave and 29th, i can give u the number if u want, and you can swing by and check it out, im currently waiting for my Turbonetics kit in the mail, we are not sure if we are going to tune ourselves or get the re-flash from turbonetics (which i hear is horrible) we are going with AEM Tru-boost boose controller, i have a wings west body kit that is currently getting painted, i purchased a factory spoiler to give it a better look and i have 19inch axis shine wheels, should look pretty slick when its done.

I have done all sorts of these install and doubt many people are paying upwords of 2K for a TN kit. If they do, it is including a full custom load based dyno tune... and still is a bit on the pricey side.

Being it is your brother, 6-800 is a rip off considering no tune. TN advertises 8-10 hr install, so you do the math and figure out how great of deal you are getting

I am pretty covered in terms of any automotive stuff.... sort of have a personal mechanic (close friend), my brother is an autobody tech and I have my own shop space...

Just curious the name of the shop he owns

sorry bud.. actually have a 4 yr degree. I guess you don't understand how a family works. If you are fine paying full retail dollars from your brother, more power to you.

PDR is its own thing... autobody is different from PDR work.

That said, I have a guy that I use, but not sure of his schedule

Buddy do not go over 7 psi or you will blow the motor, twice this year put the boost control at 8psi and twice i blew the engine both times on rods, inveset in your block now it will be cheaper down the road.
