without going into a whole lot of details that can get this OT, my turbo application requires me to work more on the mid range than the top end so i need lower duration cams. Plus I'm working on a sponsorship deal with a different manufacturer. Most TT builds would benefit from this cams specially if they wanna think about making power on top end and raising the rev limiter specially as you raise the psi levels .

This cams are brand new, never installed.

Question

Can these be used with stock pistons or will the valve reliefs have to be modded?

Stock valve reliefs need to be deepened by 1mm at the very least.

Can this be done without removing the pistons from the motor?

They should work but you should clay it to make sure everything clears to be on the safe side. The 272's work without any issues.

With stock pistons? Aftermarket pistons usually feature extra-deep valve reliefs.

It also depends on which 272's you're talking about since Tomei also makes 272's with 10.5 mm lift. But according to them, the stock reliefs need to be deepened when used with their > 11mm lift cams.

While it might be technically possible, I wouldn't say it is feasible or desirable.

It would throw the rotating balance off and also be very likely to get chips from the flycutting into the engine... plus, I think it would be pretty difficult to set up.

Have any of you actually done this?

I haven't personally done it, but I have seen it done.
