Never realized how much a different dyno would read!

So I got my new tires installed today. Robert from RSSpeedlabs has been begging me to dyno my car, but I've always said "No" b/c I didn't want to pay for something that I already knew plus most people around here have no idea how much HP I'm really pushing & I like it that way. He told me today he'd wouldn't charge me if he could film it to put on they're website so I said ok.
1st here's the pull on Jeremy's dyno @ PF

Here it is on a Mustang Dyno letting off @ 6000rpm

And again letting off @ 6300rpm

34 less whp, but a 49wtq gain??? I'm no complaining, just thought it was kinda odd.

Here's the video they took of me for they're site.

Jeremy's dyno went to almost 7,000 rpm
The other went to only 6,000 rpm.
If he took it to 6,900 or so like Jeremy, it would have been a better comparison.
Thats the only thing I can think of to explain the lower HP reading, I could be wrong.

Robert is a great guy, but all he can do is rave about how the Mustang Dyno is the best dyno for tunning and gives the truest numbers. I just don't get how my graph was all over the place like that!?!
Trending Topics
Actually, for tuning purposes, a Dyna Pak is the best dyno, for numbers a Dyno Jet.
I am sure he is a great guy, no doubt about that - he is just wrong on this particular subject.

I don't want to start a argument about different dyno's. Could you tell me why you think that? He stays that with the MD's being able to simulate real world driving it's better for a true tune. I'm guessing he just thinks that it's the best for numbers because of the same thing. Just trying to learn as much as my little brain can handle.
Americans like there dynos reading 'calculated flywheel hp'. Thats the explanation dyno dynamics gave me when i quizzed them on how come the americans make more power then our identical setups. Come to australia and u will see the real heartbrakes in action. rwkW
well all dynos are calibrated....so there are differences with that even between two diff dynojets....mustang...whateva...
also mustang dyno's use load differently..so the numbers usially are lower than dynojets..so the guy saying its better for tuning..is right depending on its calibrations....
basically its like this..supra guys never go to mustang dyno's...cuz they care more about the number on the printout than their actual performance.....what kinda guy are u??

+1
Load based dynos are better for tunning the car, inertia based dynos (dyno jet) are better for do doing head to head comparison since that is what everyone uses.

Thats basically what I said in my earlier post

....were the runs on the MD done with the ignition probe??...or were they using the roller speed for RPM?...
....i have seen results consistant with your experience on our dyno vs. dynojets....we have a MD also....readings are very conservative on the Mustangs...but ive always prefered it that way....then when you take the car to any other dyno it will produce better numbers...

They plugged something into my OBD plug, but that's it I think. I wasn't really talking about the numbers so much. I figured my hp would be around 380-390. It's the big jump in torque and the messed up graph that really confused me.
