Ok well first off I am no newb to FI, ALL of my cars have been turbo'd (7 total now) and they all get to the point where I cant put the power down 400whp rx7 on 245's, 300whp EG hatch etc etc.
I am an avid auto-x and really want more low end umph to pull through the gears. I drive the Z on the weekends and occasionally to the gym. I work on all of my cars but I am very busy so reliablity is a must. I dont want to waste my sunday tightening turbo gaskets etc. I dont want a lot of power, and I am in LOVE with my turboXS exhaust and dont want the exhaust note to be lost....which is will be with a turbo.
so all of this leads me to a SC.....and between those is the ATI and the Vortech. I have done research and I see a ton of Vortechs for sale with low mileage. Are people not pleased with the power? I mean my Z at 263whp is quick right now..I would be very happy with 350-380whp and mid 300 torque.
So I guess I want to know is who is more happy with their SC ATI or Vortech guys????

the stillen will better for low end power than either the ATI or vortech - in most cases usually
IMO the vortech is the better kit for multiple reasons already covered a billion times about it's flexibility etc, but the ATI is a good kit too as long as you make sure to get it tuned since out of the box it can be a tad too aggressive on the engine. On the flipside, the vortech is too conservative with it's out of the box tune.
If you go with the ATI or vortech and want some low end oomph, get a shorter final drive ratio

I had a Procharger and loved it and miss the sound. It was very reliable and predictable also easy to install. I enjoyed kicking it sideways with just a touch of the pedal. But wanted more TQ so went turbo.
Everyone has there opinion I say ATI or like sentry said a Stillen they put out good power down low.

yeah I wish I could have the power curve of a turbo and the extra torque. But the overall experience I loooove the sound of my car and unfortunately have to pick the kit that fits my needs the best.

I went with Vortech after reading the numerous threads, especially Sentry's. The GB from PF happened to be the push I needed. Your car must sound like Jesus singing, I never heard that reason before, but good luck.
Edit: if you have the money buy a standalone, I suggest Haltech.

My Procharger was so quiet I vented the bypass valve to the atmosphere so I could here it better. But when doing that it wanted to die on let off sometimes it didn't like my flywheel. On 8psi I made 353whp and 312 wtq with water/meth on a mustang dyno.

If you're racing autocross, kiss competativeness goodbye. In SCCA, you'll move to something like SM2 and in NASA they would have to dyno the car to properly class it.
Good luck with the project though.

humm..
if you search you will find that the Vortech is a better kit overall and that for upgrades down the road the vortech will be ur best bet.
the ATI set up is weak, going for more then 8-9psi puts too much stress on the bracket assembly and there are numerous posts on belt hopping off the cog.
plus if you look at the vortech blower, it looks a lot better

Sounds good guys, I just like reconfirmation when I am spending a couple grand.
I dont care about competitiveness I care about fun factor. I am already leading my class on street tires, I just attend every event and have a blast doing it.

That's a great attitude to have if you don't have divisional or national aspriations.
I still say to go turbo instead....our cars have such great low end torque, and when is the last time you were under 3k rpm's in autox?

ATI is soooo loud.... but can handle big boost
Vortech is quiet until the BOV lets loose...
Stillen SC has my favorite sound, but the weakest HP on the top end but, the highest TQ.
Stillen SC plus 75 shot spells a good time!
LOL

ATI does not handle big boost well. It just snaps belts everytime. Ask any ATI owner who's gone for more than 410whp or 14 psi
stillen does not have the highest tq. It might have the highest tq below 2500 rpms, but not the highest tq. My vortech setup has 383 tq, some other people have around or more than 400 tq with a vortech....stillen just won't come close. My vortech tq at 2500 rpms is about 275 tq at the wheels
