utec map sensor....help

Default utec map sensor....help
So I was changing my battery yesterday, and as i was i looked down to see my utec map sensor with the sheilding back about 1/2 inch and a white wire sticking up. All the other wires going in the little black box are fine. Is this wire needed, or was it cut from the factory.
