That was back in early march of this year. The reason the storm was so bad coming through Nashville is because, they had not put down any salt. I was just blessed to get home in one piece that weekend.

Stock, pics this afternoon. car is at home in the garage and I am at work. (supposedly) boost is 8.5psi. Standard set up for the kit. the car was running fine for the last 10 months since installation. But All of a sudden the change is happening.

Things can happen to make the A/F change...bottom line is..if your are FI..you have to get the gauges listed. If I were you ..I would not drive it in boost until you get it checked.

I wished i only lived 4 hours from FP...that way I could **** off Sharif on a daily basis instead of the usual monthly Come on man...4 hours is nothing

lexington is not far if the car is running right. That can be a long trip driving 45mph. Only to find that you need to leave the car for a while and come back with a small loan! this stuff is getting old. My first minor problem and I'm already sick of it. I sound like a little bi*** right now.

Do you still have cats on this car ? If so are they stock or aftermarket ?

What year is your Z/G ?

One option might be to buy a copy of Cipher. If your car has the factory widebands installed you could get an idea of your A/F and even log them.

Just a thought.

You can drive as fast as you want without going into boost. Its not how fast you go...its how fast you get up to speed that brings on boost

Absolutely. Temps will change with timing adjustments as well as AFR, and the location of egt probe. I prefer an AFR meter, dyno, and knock monitoring to tune. EGTs are useful to tune cylinder differences if you have one on each cylinder, and to detect changing motor conditions once you know good baseline numbers. Enough on that rant

Cal_Z, what engine management was used for the tune? If we can help in any way please let us know. It looks like you are about 250 miles from us. Are you sure you weren't sneaking in some race gas, this could explain the whiter soot

Yup...pretty much. Get it to Hal or Sharif. You have ALOT of reading to do on FI Z's my friend. Good luck in getting it fixed.

I haven't read all the posts to see if someone asked . but by saying ....REGULAR GAS..... do you mean 87 octane ? Try running premium gas .......91-93 octane

I'm not sure if my point came across properly, and to educate the OP:

The reason I suggested the EGT gauge over the AF (though both are good to have, I would rather EGT over AF) is because the EGT gives the driver a better understanding of his motor. I will use a couple scenarios

The driver has a good tune and everything is rather rock solid, he takes the car out on the road and wants to show is friend his new car. He try's to top the car out but keeps getting stopped, he gets to 130 - 140 mph but wants to take 6th as far as he can, he keeps hitting bends in the road and slowing down. He is using 4th, 5th and 6th for these runs.

This entire time his A/F gauge is spot on, great thats awesome, his car hasn't changed in the last 5 minutes (tune wise or fuel delivery / intake wise)

however...

the Exhaust Gas Temperatures are slowly rising due to the length of 4th, 5th and 6th gear and the amount of time that he is in boost in those gears.

Without an EGT gauge the driver has no clue that his Exhaust Gas Temperature is slowly rising and continues to shoot for his top speed.

What seemed like a fun night of hitting top speed turns into detrimental engine failure.

That scenario shows that the EGT is more helpful in that situation

Now lets give a situation that the AF is more helpful, but also how the EGT can inform the driver of a problem (not the exact problem, but a problem)

The driver is running very lean (Easily use the current drivers situation)

His A/F gauge would tell him almost instantly by displaying his A/F however, the EGT gauge will also show him by increased EGTs.

I put these examples out there not for a "EGT vs AF battle" but to inform those who aren't sure of how these sensors are able to benefit them.

The only thing I feel an AF gauge can tell a driver that an EGT gauge can't is if he's running rich, but aside from exhaust smell, a well trained eye could see drops in his EGT due to the extra fuel being used to cool the cylinder more then normal.

Most people know what AF Gauges tell them and why it is beneficial but some people don't understand how beneficial EGT gauges are as well, and sometimes able to show problems that an AF gauge can't

/rant

Best of luck to the OP and hopefully a few people learned a thing or two about how useful and beneficial having more then just a boost gauge are. There's a reason that drag cars / race cars have so many gauges

I purchased the aps kit that has the piggy back included. That is what Z1 used for the install. I have never used race gas in the car. Just 93octane pump gas. I may be giving you guys a call. I have a friend from indianapolis named Jason whom you worked on his black G35 who had flywheel issues on his extreme aps kit install that he did himself. I also have a friend from indi that recommends you named Cory. I Speak with them often.
