Default About to go bigger with the gt35r powerlab kit.

I have started the build process for my 06 g35 with help from Injected Performance and Smith Family Performance (Local shop in Asheville, NC) with a goal of a conservative 500-550 whp DD dyno tune. I enjoy the quick spool up of the gt35r but worry about it choking off when I turn up the boost once I retune the car. I am looking for some input on cams and changing the a/f turbine to an 1.06 in the gt35r to help build power up top without having too much lag. I have seen the dynos that Intense posted and the powerlab kit made big power (653 whp) but it seem to hit the wall early and lost power after 4500 rpm.

Bigger A/R means power later in the power band. If you are looking to drag the car, go with the 1.06 a/r housing. Though the .82 a/r housing seems to be the best all around setup. Good Luck!

Hey James, Good luck with the build.

You will get a lot of different opinions on cams. I went with the BC-Stage2's on my car.

Shoot me a pm or give me a call if you have any questions.

3 things why i always suggest BC stg 2

*Idle...excellent, not to loopy and no need to just jack up idle rpms to compensate.
*midrange + capable of power up top too......with single turbo id put consideration to midrange, so no need to go with wilder cams than ~264º
*excellent price IMO

Default BC stage 2

Will the BC stage 2 work with an REVup motor? If not, What would you suggest?

No problem. I will need to ask Sharif for some dyno information to use as comparison material,... so give me a little while to work on it

I need a a dyno from the heartbreaker that is similar to my setup but with stock cams.

Good question. Unfortunately I don't have an answer.

You can try emailing Brian Crower and asking them. They are pretty good at responding to emails. I think the BC-2's are non-revup only, but I may be mistaken.

Make sure you talk to a couple of tuners to get their impressions on cams before making a final decision. It helps if they are familar with your goals for the car and its use. Most all of them will gladly share their experiences and try to match those to your goals.

I remember speaking to a couple of Nissan Reps that stated that cams in an '06 is a waste of time. Since the intake and exhaust cams are both adjustable, aftermarket cams wont yield any benefit as they would in the 2003-2005. Check it out before you just dive in. Meanwhile I will also look into this further.
Is there anyone with a 2006 that has any substantial FI gains with cams? Please step up!

Default rev-up cams

Any more info on the BC stage 2 cams benefitting a rev-up? I just spoke with a prestigious Tuner who recommended them for my build. Curious to know if he was correct
