Question Stock block reliability Turbocharged

First off hello to everyone! I am interested in getting into a turbocharged 350z, preferably single. However, I have a few questions that need clarification. The car will be my Daily driver, but I would like to achieve 400whp+. How does the stock block perform with a single turbo as far as reliability is concerned? I am trying to sell my e46 m3 to purchase a 350, but want to make sure this is the right decision. Does the transmission in the Z last long with 400hp? Any information will be appreciated.

The last time i heard the stock HR engine can hold 600whp in a twin turbo setup.

lots of factors are involved in your question, most agree that with a good tune and ems a stock block can take 400 but you are very close to the wall, even more so if its going to be your dd.

Depends on what type of Z your getting. If you get one with the HR motor your looking at about 500hp on a stock block, but if you get a DE your looking at about 400hp. Be sure to change the clutch though if you turbo charge your car though. If you get the HR I highly recommend that you get the ATS clutch kit because of the clutch problems the HR's are getting.

so can the DE and Revup...... for a few dyno runs. most HR's seem to be relatively safe around 450whp some people push to around 500. only time will tell. DE's and Revup's are relatively safe around 400whp.

Depends on tune, but for the money and what's out there, it is worth a few grand more to buy a built block Z ...

Stock block DE with 463hp/415tq (mustang Dyno) over here.. **** load of 1/4mile passes and just finished a full day of 4 sessions 25-30min each road course at homestead speedway! Been boosted about 2 years. 1 of the few that actually use the car and not just wash/garage it..

Tune has TONS to do with it.. My car was/is Tuned by Roger@Japtrix...

i misread that craig, i thought you were saying its better to go with a built block instead of a stock block for only a few grand more. we all know that costs a bit more than a few grand.

OK, you can spend $20K on just the motor and turbos and have it all blow up before you do a single dyno pull. How's that for trial and error?
