Default sts rear mount vs old fashioned tt

hey before i get started i looked up (searched) but didnt find what i really was looking for i have a 08 base and i eventually want to go fi but dont know what to go with,i went to hot import nights and i seen a guy with a 07 nismo
and he had the sts kit got it modified to fit the hr since he works at a shop and that thing sounded sweet he said he was putting down 400hp to the wheels with only 2 psi,it sounded kinda weird but awesome at the same time lol any ways so i asked and people told me that for the hr tt is the way to go.Im pretty sure alot of people know what there talking about when it comes down to this kinda stuff on this site so please im in need for some help.
thanks in advance

p.s feel free to comment even if its against my post i want everybodys opinion,i got my suit on

400whp @ 2psi = LIE

IMO, TT > STS, but there are members that have the STS that love them.

Wow...if all it took was 2lbs of boost to reach 400hp on an HR motor there'd be A LOT of happy 07+ 350z and G35/37 owners around here right now

Tell him to show you his dyno and wideband #s and ask him which is better a DE Nismo Z or an HR one

depending on your power goal. STS is a good kit for what it is.

tt > sts any day, just look at the multiple dyno graphs and not to mention the power goals associated with the 2.

Did you have the duck call sounding BOV? I hear that adds an extra 30whp alone

Please, we are comparing apples to apples here, throwing the turbonator in the mix is hardly fair. Everyone in F/I knows that turbonator>tt, sts, st, sc

sts kit is a good option for stock block imo. if you want to build down the road that option is still there with the sts but i would go TT if that was in your plans.

No HR fitment, the STS is cheap to fit to HR, powerlab (assuming) not so cheap.

For the price go TT used from the forums. STS is a great option but the new price of one doesnt make it great. You can purchase all the parts to make a Rear Mount turbo kit for way less than half the price of a new STS. As long as you have the tools and ingenuity to make it happen.

I would go TT but if your looking for something to do in your drive way and 400whp and look stock, I think the sts will do fine. They sound nice too! .

Don't waste your money on a temporary solution.. Over the years I have seen guy say they are happy with xxxwhp its bullsht ..

Boost is addictive and you will always want more.. Do it right the first time

Frankly if I wasn't worried about blowing my motor from knock (or sticking valves) I'd build and STS turbo and buy Osirus tuner. I know basic tuning stuff, how to set up hardware, have access to a mandrel bender, and good tig welder (person not equipment) all for relatively cheap prices. Making a couple oil lines wouldn't scare me off. Could do it for extremely little (like say 3500 total installed and running). Get a base tune and take it to a shop, spend another $500 on a couple hours of fine tuning, and make 400-450 whp safely.

The investment is only marginally more than bolt ons, and I'd have something I could sell if I decided to build and go TT (I feel running more than 8-9 psi of boost on a high compression motor without planning to build later is a bad idea). That said, since I've had any number of issues from high RPM vibration, and have seen too many things to scare me off, I won't be the example of this. I'll probably boost an E36 instead, and enjoy my $5000 (with car) 420whp mini-monster.
