What cams to use for a built motor with greddy TT?
#27
Its not that I'm all about the numbers, I just like to see how certain specific modifications reshape the powerband--Its understandable though, some people don't care to focus on dynosheets out there on some forum.
The reason i asked was because the other dynos I have seen of BC stg 3 cams don't show a loss in the midrange, more like a loss for <3000rpms. So I was interested to see Alberto's dyno since he is a well known member of these forums (at least to me).

The advertised duration and lift #'s don't give you the full picture - those are largely marketing excercises. Start by talking to the guy building your engine, and head down to the library, the bookstore, etc and start studying what makes the cam work, and why it's relationship to the above engine characteristics makes or breaks the overall result. It will seem like alot of info to digest, but to truly make an informed decision, knowledge and understanding are your best friend.
You are also correct about doing proper research. If anyone is interested in comparing two particular cams, call the manufactureres of those cams. I spent an hour on the phone with Jim Wolf on Thursday discussing my new build and my goals (JIM WOLF KNOWS HIS SHIAT ABOUT CAM DESIGN......) I have never spoken with BC, so I can't opine about his knowledge.
For my new build, Jim and I discussed the C2's and the C8's. Although the JWT C2's worked great with my Greddy's, now I definitely want the JWT C8's for my new GTM 4.0L stroker and Stage 3 TT setup.

George,
Wholly smokes, I didn't realize how much duration your Stage 3 cams had. No wonder Sam kept telling me to go that route. I guess I should have checked it out.
How do they idle? Please let me know.
How many degrees of overlap? Do you have a cam profile chart?
Actually, perhaps you can let me know what your overlap is both on your Stage 2 and Stage 3 cams. I'll put those in the chart posted above.
