Passing NJ Inspection with an F/I Z???
I'm looking to do a 370z F/I project once I graduate college. Looking to do a twin turbo kit to make anywhere from 600-800rwhp. But the real question is will I pass inspection in jersey? I know they've really been cracking down especially in jersey and i'm going to have to be running a lot richer to run the turbo setup I assume.

As long as you not throwing any CEL you should pass inspection just fine.
They don't open your hood at inspection centers
They hook up the OBDII and if you don't have any CEL you good.
Of course can't have tints or any bule lights

I got the APS TT everything up front just looks like a big Cai so even if they pop my hood I should be good ^_^
If it comes down to it and it is what you say it is(which has never happened to me) I will pull a Tim from SFR and black out the pipes and put a fake OEM airbox.
Looks pretty stock to me since I have change the oil catch can to a greddy and put reg fuel injection hose and have added a 350z engine cover to the front half of the motor

I'm thinking of doing one map for normal TT driving and another map for inspection which will use a custom exhaust etc with cats and all that but will be tuned to burn all the fuel so it passes inspection if it gets sniffed. I'll just have to change the exhaust before inspection to one with cats etc and switch the map to the inspection map. Supposedly my friend did it and that works but not sure. Anyone ever hear of doing anything like that? Because if your running 700 or 800 rwhp there is no way your going to pass with your normal performance map if they decide to sniff the car. And plus it's getting harder and harder to pay someone off at a independently owned inspection station because they've been cracking down and no one wants to lose their inspection license and get fined just to pass someone for $100 profit. Even if they do that and you get pulled over and the cop traces the inspection sticker there is not going to be any real inspection to back it and the show will get screwed that way.

I used to have a guy that I would go to for inspections, but honestly I haven't gone to him since 2004. I'm sure things are different now than back then.
But emissions aside, let me get this right....
You're planning a turbo kit for car you don't have yet. And you're planning to pay for that car with a job you don't have yet. And you're planning to get that job with a degree that you don't have yet?

OP, if you can, do it. Took me 3 years after buying my car brand new to even think about buying a turbo kit. If you are going to work for a hedge fund or Goldman, well, just skip the 370 and go straight for the GTR or 997 turbo
but beware, it is a horrible monetary investment

I'm going to school for pharmacy don't worry I won't have trouble paying for it. That asside I'm just trying to get some info here. Future plans or not it's always good to gain some knowlege. I just love the look of the 370Z. GTR and Porsche Turbo is great (LOVE the Porsche!), but I just really want to do a 370 project. The Porsche will come later

On a side note I'm hearing lots of mixed reviews about the whole passing emissions thing. Some people seem to have TT kits and are passing just fine but others are paying people off. I still don't see how a car that's moded to 600-800rwhp with TT's will pass a sniff test without some good cats and a different map/retarding in order to burn all the fuel so no increased carbon etc emissions comes out the tailpipe. I heard that's what AMG did on their recent cars for the pass few years to get them to pass emissions (retard timing)
