Clutch Issue. Please do not move. Need Help
Ok so i got a z in my garage and i just put in a g35 engine and 350z tranny.
Now the problem is, the clutch is not engaging. When i put in the slave cylinder, i had to pry the fork back inorder to bolt it up. now that i have done that, the throw out bearing is actually pusshing on the pressure plate thus disengaging the clutch. i have NO CLUE as to what to do here.
Do you think maybe something needs to be adjusted. Ive never ran into this problem out of like 5 or 6 vq swaps.
MODS- Please do not move this. All the real gear heads only come to this section and i need this assistance asap. thank you

BLEED BLEED BLEED......these hydraulic clutch systems are notoriously hard to bleed. Best bet is to let it gravity bleed overnight (or for a few hours), then go at it bleeding in the normal manner.
its late and im tired so bear with me..
did you use the same fork and/or pivot ball that came with that trans?? I only ask because they changed lengths of the pivot ball over the years..
just a thought and a bump!

Yes, the transmission is the original one and so is the fork and bearing. the engine was only swapped.
And what does bleeding have to do with anything. Its not a soft pedal or air in the lines. The pedal is actually pushed out to maximum since its constantly pushing on the pressure plate.

If the bell housing is off, take a ton of pics...this can't be that hard to figure out.
No everything is together and i rolled the car outside. Ill jack it up tomorow and take pics. Honestly, i have no idea what to check for first. Like i even swapped the G35 clutch for a z33 clutch that i had on my car and nothing changed. Im guessin the clutch has nothing to do with this. It might be the fork/throw out bearing at fault maybe.
this happened to me last year, i put the tranny back in and the slave cyl didnt line up with the pivot fork. It turns out when I put the tranny back in I accidentally dislodged the clip from the end of the pivot fork and I had to drop the tranny back down again. Check the clip on the pivot fork to make sure it still holds the throwout bearing
How the hell am i supposed to check that. I cant drop the tranny anymore, its a ***** to put back in. Im gonna take the slave off and take the rubber boot off and see if thats the problem. HOWEVER it seems like your slave didnt line up with the fork, Mine lines up perfect with the fork, but the fork is just pushed forward causing difficulty bolting it up.

Alright, if you notice the rubber boot over the slave cylinder is compressed fully. I dont think its supposed to be like that. Im gonna take the rubber boot off later today and see if i can see the back of the fork.
Here are some pics

I dont think thats it cuz the boot shouldnt be compressed like that. Whats happening is the pressure plate fingers are pushing the bearing too far back inot the tranny sticking the bottom of the fork forward a little too much. and then when you intall the slave cylinder back in, you;re pusshing the bearing backinto the clutch thus disengaging it. Hence why the wheels dont spin cuz the clutch is not engaged.
I know dropping the tranny is a PITA but I don't see any way around this.
If the clutch fork is coming out at that angle yet the clutch is still engaged there's something in going on inside the bell housing area that needs to be addressed.
can you shift gears with the car running and without pressing on the clutch pedal? If your diagnosis is correct and the throwout bearing is putting too much pressure on the fingers of the pressure plate you should be able to, otherwise the problem lies elsewhere.

I can switch gears but it will grind in some gears including reverse. clutch in or clutch out.
I dropped the tranny once and i inspected it completely and there was NOTHING out of the ordinary. And then it took me like 4 hours to put it back in. Its hard with one person and being on the ground.
