Default Boost/Vacuum gauge clarification.

Ok here's the deal. I just installed an autometer boost/vacuum gauge on my 350z. I am running a vortech sc with the stock SS box. I t'd off the line from the intake manifold that was going to the SS box. When I started the car and looked at the boost gauge it was in the vacuum area. And when I revved the motor, it went even further into the vacuum area. No boost? Am I just reading the gauge wrong or what?

it should be in vacuum while at idle or not moving you will only make boost under load take it for a drive and watch it.. should hit 0 around 3 or 4k rpm i believe then building boost after that..

manifold vacuum/boost has to do with the load on the engine, not engine rpm's...
