Talking My 928 Motorsport experience.

A few weeks ago my Vortech bearings failed. I put my car up on jack stands and pulled the whole kit off to clean all the pipes, and send the blower away for a rebuild. I called up 928 Motorsports and spoke with a very nice woman who helped me get my rebuild order together. I sent it off and it arrived there within 3 days. I got the full rebuild and upgraded to the V+ impeller. One week later they sent my blower back to me. It came back within 1 week (today) due to the hoilday. First thing I noticed was the packing was done better than what I did. Upon spinning the pulley I noticed that the impeller was rubbing one side of the valute wall. I called them up and spoke with Carl. He told me that I could just send it back to him and he would take care of my cost or I could attempt this fix myself. If that didn't work out he would still let me send it back at no cost. I took off the Valute and cleaned it well then reinstalled it. My impeller now spins as it should. Thanks for the walk through Carl.

After a couple hours of putting everything back together, I poured in some Rotella T Syn 5w40 and fired it up. At first the car was idleing rough. I guess it's because It's been sitting without oil for a few weeks. I noticed some smoke and a burnt oil smell coming from the back of the motor. I think thats coming from the the rear driver side valve cover filter. I let it sit for about 10 minutes like this until the smoke cleared out. Then I went for a test drive. The car drove without any hicups. In fact it felt like it wants to pull alot harder than before in the lower RPMs. I didn't go WOT because I want to break it in first. In a few weeks I will be taking it to my tuner for some adjustments. I can't wait.

I want to thank everyone over at 928 Motorsports for there friendly customer service. They were very pleasing to talk to, and I'm happy to be back up and running. I highly recomend going to them for your Vortech rebuilds. I also opted for the 1 year warranty which Vortech did not offer me. I will post numbers up after my tune with before and after graphs.

never too impressed with any company that is supposed to check for problems before the item is shipped but dont. Makes you wonder what else they glossed over....

They told me they checked it, and that it was fine. I was able to readjust the Valute with no problems at all, and if it didn't work they were going to fix it for me at no cost at all, not even shipping. I'm satisfied in the end. Who knows maybe UPS banged the box around causing a shift in the valute alignment. Oh well it's working fine now.

I can see both sides of this. I would certainly hope that an operation like a rebuild would have some QC checks involved.

But, after the problem was brought to their attention it sounds like they handled it as well as could be hoped for. Sometimes the best test of a good company is how they handle the problems

Nice, welcome to the club ...it'll be interesting to see a direct comparison of the Sc impeller vs 928 Impeller...

I actually have a backup Sc trim blower ready to send back to Carl to have the impeller installed with...

I did a comparison already at moderate boost levels.

I wish I would have spun it higher though as that is where the 928 impeller will do the best even though it still does well in the low end. I am looking at buying my old supercharger back and putting it on my LS1 with this impeller.

+1 great customer service + international shipping.

Expect power gains similar to one pulley size drop but with out the worry of over spinning or belt slipping
