Default How far will you venture form home, F/I Z's?

I did a road-trip this past weekend, covering 1100miles....most at speeds 100mph+.
I had my reservation about doing this but in the end it was all worth it.
I found new respect and confidence in my F/I setup.
This made me wonder....How many guys here have the confidence doing so with their F/I Z's or how far will you confidently venture from home with out any backup?

less than 100 miles as thats as far as I get free towing. Thats also about the range of my gas tank as well.

I have gone 250 miles one way, and would not have any concerns going on long trips. If the install is done right (no matter what kit) you should not have any issues at all.

1,118 miles one way, not a single problem. I did this the day after goin FI and cruising around 74miles an hour. All the fluids etc were fine.

Hopefully I never have to drive that far again. I was running out of music

Ive done 700 miles 3 times, but that is usually right after the car left Forged back in the day. I did slightly less for ZdayZ and beat the snot out of it, but by the time I returned home it was overflowing with coolant.

Ive since tried a quick 500 mile trip and had the car overheat, puke coolant, fan wiring come undone (possibly aero related though), throttle issues, I wouldnt trust it 150 miles now to drive it to the Ocean just one way let alone go to the beach, run some cars, have fun and return home-which I used to do every year.

Basically, the longer I have the car, the less I trust it and its components to get me home.

Correct, 4000rpm in 6th was around 160mph....that's were my cruise control was set at.
You're forgetting one thing.....those in between, were it's so hard to let anything go by

1000 miles oneway from Texas to ATL 3 times . Past 3 weekends 300 mile round trips to Dallas. No issues, only had to add ~ 1qt of oil between oil changes.

This is how I felt but to lesser degree.
One thing I did pick up which is actually a positive from the trip. Something is wrong with the suspension or something related.
Sharp cornering around 80mph, my slip light comes on and the abs starts braking aggressively while in the corner.....not nice.

You cant set cruise control on Z's past 90mph, and 160mph in 6th gear with stock gearing is higher than 4000rpm's....

The slip/VDC issue you are describing used to happen to me all the time. Its tire size/tire wear related.

Man some of the suburbs around here are almost 70miles away lol. So visiting friends is a 140mile treck (if I don't have other things to do while out).......I have complete confidence in my setup for any trip.

I've had a TT set-up on a stock block & now a built engine TT. I went to ZDAYZ and the only proble I had was self induced. I washed the car with a high pressure hose and got a relay wet. The relay shorted out and had to be replaced. That was it. I have total confidence in going coast to coast!!

Besides, IF you can't trust the car to go wherever you want you got ripped off!!!!!!!

Yeah, if I’m not comfortable driving my car 200 or 300 miles one way there’s definitely something wrong.

So a question for the guys who do take longer road trips than the usual daily driving. What spare or extra things do you keep in the Z as far as maintenance goes?

Nothing here. I have made over 25 1/4" mile passes, no issues, and that is much more strenuous on the car than a long drive.

Just what i was looking to hear. Im waiting for this summer heat to go away. Z is under construction to finish up cooling mods. 1st road trip will be up north to the bay area, approximately 450 miles. Almost at 13k miles on the stock block and running strong.
