Well bbs350z if you read the thread and stop being so quick to be a smart ***... Maybe you'll realize that I'm trying to get info on somthing I have never done before. S/C yea done alot turbos 1st one. Anyway back on the topic....lol. I'm def. not wanting rasp. I'm going to be doing motordyne or greddy tic exhaust. Tony at motordyne said that there will be min if any rasp... Thats my next thing I need to tackel, My exhaust choice..

Yeah, thats what I thought, but the greddy gtr is twin td06 with external gates, and it still sounds really good... still has that trumpeting sound.
I'm definitely going to try a twin down pipe to 4 inch pipe out dual exit if I go twins. Check out tom's G35 on youtube, sh*t sounds nice, twin 3 inch to a 4 inch through a gutted stock muffler. I definitely want to try that, but with recirc wg.

I just had a thought of why I may not like the open dumps. I'm on my winter tires, and this is the first driving of the turbos. Got a month with the summer tires on and didn't push it much then. So right now it's semi quite, half throttle normal exhaust to a$$ raping loud. I think if it's full throttle exhaust sound, it won't be as big a change. I'll update in the spring

Do recirc wastegates sound less raspy and more towards that trumpeting vr38 sound (in person)?
do my dumps sound raspy?? i think not!!

That's pretty much exactly the sound I dont like :/. No offense though, because your car would rape mine even with a 5 second head start .
Most of the turbo z's out there sound like blenders imo... totally loose that vq trumpet... again the gtr retains it really, really well.

just trying to make sense on the situation. it originally wasnt directed at you, more so the arguement as a whole, but i can always play it in your favor from my view. you want all these parts required to make the power, these parts are loud, but you dont want them loud. you also want to run 18psi, but dont want your gates to open too soon so you can hear your "turbo sound". a 14psi spring will open at 14psi, which is a nice pull before it opens. an added benefit of dumps, it doesnt get forced into the exhaust, or back up to the turbo. so unless you make an exhaust out of resonators and mufflers, and recirc the dumptube, your going to have a loud car. plain and simple

sometimes being a smartass is better than a dumbass

I've got plenty good speakers, and a very nice soundcard to boot (music producer ftw) haha.
I guess raspy isn't a great word for it, but it isn't the sound I like, especially in comparison to a GTR.

I think im as close as you can get to a smooth GTR sound with a VQ35, This is a internal WG APS TT w/ 3.5 APS downpipes and APS 2.5" exhaust. Personally its to quite for me, im looking for an APS 3".
Hopefully someone can embed this link for me.
